Increasingly Shrill Liberal Journalists Attack 'Legitimacy' of Supreme Court
News Buster.com ^ | June 25, 2012 | John Bates

As the ObamaCare decision looms large on the horizon, the Left is doing their best to defame the Supreme Court in anticipation of a defeat of the president signature legislative accomplishment.

In the past two days, liberal journalists Michael Tomasky and James Fallows have published histrionic tirades at their respective publications, the Daily Beast/Newsweek and The Atlantic.

Fallows cries that the “Roberts majority” is ruining the court’s legitimacy by somehow violating unwritten "norms" of its behavior:

Norms have given the Supreme Court its unquestioned legitimacy. The Roberts majority is barreling ahead without regard for the norms, and it is taking the court’s legitimacy with it.

Tomasky published an article in which he quoted the following from his pal Fallows as “factually true.”

First, a presidential election is decided by five people, who don’t even try to explain their choice in normal legal terms.

Then the beneficiary of that decision appoint the next two members of the court, who present themselves for consideration as restrained, humble figures who care only about law rather than ideology.

Once on the bench, for life, those two actively second-guess and re-do existing law, to advance the interests of the party that appointed them.

Yes, you read correctly. Liberal journalists are descending into loopy conspiracy theories about the Court now.

Of course, in their rush to paint the Supreme Court as a right-wing cabal controlled by shadowy millionaires, both Tomasky and Fallows do absolutely nothing to actually address the salient constitutional issues at play in the ObamaCare case, HHS v. Florida.

It should be a major embarrassment to Newsweek and The Atlantic that instead of attempting thoughtful liberal cases for upholding the ObamaCare mandate, it's plunged into the abyss with overheated, conspiratorial rhetoric like Tomasky's and Fallows's.

If these pathetic wretches that dare call themselves journalists (liberal activists that own word processors) do not like the American system of government (like Obama hates it) then they should leave the country and find a place more suited to their apparent desire to live in a lawless dictatorship.

It would be interesting to see how trying to rewrite the dictatorial words of the commies of Venezuela or Cuba ahead of their pronouncement would work out for them.

Do they know something?

Fallows is easily fisked here, it’s already been done so I won’t bother.

I pray that average americans find the courage to stand up against the radical left, because I don’t think they will stop until forceably stopped.

Pretty soon they’ll demand the USSC be replaced with a “Constitution Czar”.

[ First, a presidential election is decided by five people, who don’t even try to explain their choice in normal legal terms.]

Two separate consortiums representing the major U.S. newspapers, wire services and broadcasters did their own recounts of the 2000 Florida vote. The conclusions of those recounts was that Bush won. Had it been otherwise there would have been hell to pay. Al Gore's first instinct was to believe to results and concede. The counties with hanging chad and other problems were run by Democrats. But DNC lawyers convinced Gore that if he challenged the count on a precinct by precinct basis they could throw out change enough Bush votes to tip the total in Gore's favor. The result was a month-long constitutional crisis.

Of course, if (God Forbid) Obamacare is upheld on Thursday, the Liberals are going to go into full rapturous meltdown mode on the wisdom of the Justices and may even say nice things about the Conservatives that vote for it.

So if the Supreme Court strikes down much of Arizona’s state enforcement of immigration law, that’s a good thing but if this same SC strikes down Socialized medicine, they are irresponsible bastards who are illegitimate.

BTW, Barack Hussein Obama really is an illegitimate bastard. He was conceived out of wedlock and his mama married a bigamist/polygamist so the marriage was null and void.

[Article, quoting James Fallows choking down a huge dose of rat poison]

IOW, the Court's legitimacy is only as good as their last decision in your favor. LOL.

Have a nice meltdown, girls -- you deserve it.

Thanks Kaslin.

The last thing “journalists” should be doing is questioning the legitimacy of anything.
