What Did SCOTUS Just Do?

Was today's Supreme Court Obamacare decision a win for conservatives or a loss? It depends on what you were rooting for.

If you were above all interested in the bill being struck down, it was mostly a loss. On the other hand, if you were more concerned about the qualitative expansion in the power of the government that the bill represented, it was definitely a win.

First, the Roberts Court put real limits on what the government can and cannot do. For starters, it restricted the limits of the Commerce Clause, which does not give the government the power to create activity for the purpose of regulating it. This is a huge victory for those of us who believe that the Constitution is a document which offers a limited grant of power.

For those “Doom and Gloomers” who’ve been predicting a ‘Second Amendment Solution’ to government intrusion into our lives... the timetable has moved forward.

Let us pray they’re wrong.

“Personally I think they solidified the GOP hold on the house and guaranteed GOP control of the senate.”

Doesn’t matter. Even if the GOP turns conservative and reverses Obamacare, any future administration/congress can use today’s ruling to compel citizens to do whatever they mandate. There is no longer a limited government, no longer any freedom of choice.

The constitution died today.

Yes lets put a happy face on the acts of a tyrant! * Sarcasm*

Because Roberts threw a few ultimately meaningless bones we should not take that silver and leave. He riped the heart of our freedom away. He declared government may tax inaction and in doing so made us slaves.

Roberts is a traitor to liberty and the Constitution and no man can be free until he is removed.

Real conservatives need to stop listening to psychobabble from PhonyCon pubs like Weakly Standard

America was pretty much neutered today, led by a Chief Justice who was appointed by a FraudCon Bush II and pushed by a FraudCon GOP senate.

No more whiny psychobable...time to pee or get off the pot. There needs to be some serious action from Real Conservatives to start fixing this nation

“For starters, it restricted the limits of the Commerce Clause, which does not give the government the power to create activity for the purpose of regulating it.”

Huh? They can now mandate any freaking activity they want and tax you if you don't comply.

” Eat 5 pounds of spinach a week, or pay a $1,000.00 tax.”

“Buy a exploding golf cart, or pay a $10,000.00 tax.”

Etc Etc Etc...

This decision says that the government can compel you to do anything, as long as it makes the penalty for non-compliance a tax.

True, but worse yet, it says the government can lie about it being a tax in the written law, say it's not, and because it could be a tax, it's OK.

Social Security was at least honest in the written law, SS was a TAX paid to the government. True, it was publicized as a retirement contract, but there was no lie in the actual law.

Here Roberts requires citizens to purchase a product from a private business or go to prison.

They did us a favor even though I did not ask for it. The FEDS can tax you into oblivion. Sort of knew that. Know it for sure now. I, for one, think we just won 2012. We shall see. I not, then the America as founded is over.

“Roberts is W Bush’s spawn.”

Yes, like many other issues, this ruling is “Bush’s Fault!” And in a larger sense, we are where we are today thanks to George W. Bush and to a lesser extent, his worthless father. I sit here in wonderment, reading various “conservative pundits” who are in the process of blowing smoke up our collective asses saying this is a “victory” for the right. John Roberts is just what several have labeled him, a Benedict Arnold.

We now need to pass a new constitutional amendment, to reverse this horrible precedent created today by the Roberts’ Court, making it clear that Fedzilla cannot tax us in this manner.

Roberts now ranks with Roger Taney as being the most gutless coward ever to hold office. Taney’s decision directly led to the Civil War. Roberts decision will do the same. In one fell swoop, he overthrew the Constitution and our republican form of government.

Any pretense to upholding the Constitution - AS HE SWORE TO DO - is gone. Any pretense that the federal government is subject to the will of the people is a monstrous joke. My personal feeling is the the court’s opinion and Roberts can go straight to the Mammon’s home. I REFUSE TO OBEY.

Social Security is a tax on WORKERS. If you don’t work, you don’t pay SS. For SS to be the same as Obamacare, then you would have to tax non-workers.

"...they solidified the GOP hold on the house and guaranteed GOP control of the senate."

They also made it an absolute certainty that O'Bungsuck will be swept out of our White House like the pile of putrid, stinking waste that he is. This has just gone from a touch-and-go election with the potential for minimal voter fraud swaying the outcome to a trembling, quaking landslide of previously unheard-of mandate majority.

A margin of victory way too big for even massive voter fraud to outweigh the natural outcome.

Obama, and The Obamacare Middle Class Income Tax, are done for. Yes, Chief Justice Roberts is a gutless dirtbag, an even bigger conservative disappointment than Justice Souter—but he just handed Conservatives both Houses of Congress and the White House come this November.

On the bright side, Chief Justice Roberts will be recorded in the history books as the biggest traitor to the Conservative Cause ever. I urinate on his vile name. What a despicable spineless eunuch.

Obamacare as is has provisions for not taxing the unemployed and indigent.

Taxing non workers could be tricky.
