We’re going to get single payer and get ready for Canadian style taxes to pay for it and both the Left and the Right will get behind it just like what happened in Canada. Its just a matter of time now.

“The Affordable Care Act’s requirement that certain individuals pay a financial penalty for not obtaining health insurance may reasonably be characterized as a tax,” wrote Chief Justice John Roberts, in his majority opinion. “Because the Constitution permits such a tax, it is not our role to forbid it, or to pass upon its wisdom or fairness.”

A financial penalty for not buying something is a tax? How so?

How does the Constitution permit such a tax? What was his reasoning?

It appears to me that the SC rewrote the legislation.

Wasn’t this bill passed in the Senate through reconciliation? And isn’t it true that bills containing taxation have to be passed with a 60-40 vote? If so then doesn’t this decision negate the Senate vote for passage?

Well, then kow tow to Congress and the rest of government for refusing to repeal it, and bend to work before the lash of the political/regulator class socialists.

Or slow down, prepare yourselves for a long dry spell, and let it run out of money. If you’re self-sufficient and hard working enough, you won’t be forced to pay (no taxes owed). Little money required for living, little revenues out.

We’re not producing much of anything as a nation, and the bond collapse and remainder of default process are ahead anyway.

Well, I’d just like to know how this is a tax on INCOME as specified in the 16th Amendment.

In a strange sort of way, I believe Chief Justice Roberts has just lit the fuse on something we’ve been wanting for a long time.

Yes, I was going to post the same...The Stamp Act.

How long before they Stamp the palm or forehead? “Approved healthy”.

And dwell on how many like Roberts and the rest, minds are operating in same manner.

But wait until 26 States sue the Federal Government for TAXING people for not doing anything (since the 'penalty' has been deemed a 'tax')

Today's ruling was based on a lawsuit that 0bamacare violates the commerce clause, so.. Another multi-state lawsuit should be forthcoming which sues the Feds for TAXING inactivity.

Since Roberts redefined 0bamacare, 26 States will simply have to redefine their lawsuit. Makes sense, right?

The words of constitutional genius Roberts:

"a general reticence to invalidate the acts of the nation's elected leaders."

Really -- the Courts have been doing it for 200 years -- why now and why this???

"It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices," he wrote.

It certainly is. Have you checked out your job description lately or the Constitution that you took an oath to defend or are you experiencing early dementia or Benedict Arnold complex???

Unlimited Power to Force You to Buy What They Want You to Buy

They’ve been doing that for decades.

You think I want to buy food, housing, legal help, etc. for millions of people SCAMMING the welfare system with duplicate names, addresses, etc., many of them not even legal residents?

You think I want to send millions to totalitarians and tribalists across the globe?

You think I want to send untold billions to crony capitalists?

This is nothing new. And it sucks.

After this decision, it’s not hard to imagine a time when there is a 10,000 dollar tax on couples who have more than one kid (because extra kids destroy the environment) or a tax on anyone who breathes (because the government needs money to keep that air clean).

Individual states can opt out if they wish to.

Wisconsin says they will ignore Obamacare.
