Since we're getting thunderstorms (finally) off-and-on, I don't want to stay online too much. FWIW, I'll simply provide this link to my first post on the thread we were on, letting anyone interested read the discussion there.

Maybe Roberts Got it Right After All

The fact is, we have a decision. It may not be the one we want, it's not the one I wanted to see for sure, but now we have to pick up the ball and run it home (that was an explicit part of the decision). So, how do we go about doing that?

Get as much info about Obamacare, and the taxes that are the major part of the legislation, and give everyone you know that information. Encourage them, if they disagree with Obamacare, to vote for Representatives in the next election who are committed to repealing the Act.

Practically, it is mostly Republicans who want the act repealed, so getting as many of them in office as possible is the answer right now. Mitt Romney, though he wasn't my first choice, is the only viable alternative to Obama. He has said that he will sign the legislation that repeals Obamacare. So he'll need a majority in the House and the Senate to send him that legislation.

The one bright spot in all this is that because of the way the Democrats passed this Act, without discussion, and as part of a Reconciliation package, the repeal can be passed with a simple majority vote in the Senate; 51 votes. The Democrats can't filibuster it. ;o)
Hoist on their own petards, I'd say!

It might be worth a try. I wish I had faith that it would work, but at least we could say we tried before exploring other option.

How many people will you register this July 4th to vote?

Well: I sure cannot beat ACORNS record, and most of my friends are already registered and are smart enough to actually make their own choice.
