ObamaCare Survives - Electing Romney Just Became Imperative
Townhall.com ^ | June 30, 2012 | Bob Beauprez

Posted on 06/30/2012 8:36:03 AM PDT by Kaslin

The Supreme Court did not save us from ourselves, at least not entirely. That is still up to us, the people.

When the American people elected Barack Obama and large Democrat majorities, the die was cast. ObamaCare was coming. Popular or not, constitutional or not, affordable or not, it didn't matter. They were going to pass it, and then the rest of us could find out what they put in it.

After the Democrats shoved the 2700 pages of ObamaCare down our throats -- and we did find out how expensive, controlling, and coercive the legislation was -- a majority of Americans wanted the Supreme Court to toss it aside as unconstitutional.

In a 5-4 decision, the Court did not deem it a legal overreach by the Democrats. While I would have agreed with the minority (Scalia, Alito, Thomas, Kennedy), I respect the decision.

For those of us who originally disagreed with ObamaCare and now disagree with the majority opinion of the SCOTUS, the challenge remains the same as it would have been had the Court ruled otherwise. We need to elect Mitt Romney and House and Senate majorities that will repeal ObamaCare and replace it with free-market, pro-liberty solutions.

In a very real way, the Court just put the responsibility back on the voters to re-establish government of, by, and for the people. In the end, we get the government – and policies that go with it – that we deserve. So, who will we elect as our representative leaders in November? The importance of this election – already historic – just grew even greater.

As the nation absorbs and deciphers the SCOTUS ruling on ObamaCare, we thought our readers would find the following excerpts from NRO's analysis insightful.  Included is a link to the entire editorial.

Chief Justice Roberts’s Folly

National Review Online

By The Editors

…Rarely has the maxim that the power to tax is the power to destroy been so apt, a portion of liberty being the direct object in this case.

What the Court has done is not so much to declare the mandate constitutional as to declare that it is not a mandate at all, any more than the mortgage-interest deduction in the tax code is a mandate to buy a house. Congress would almost surely have been within its constitutional powers to tax the uninsured more than the insured. Very few people doubt that it could, for example, create a tax credit for the purchase of insurance, which would have precisely that effect. But Obamacare, as written, does more than that. The law repeatedly speaks in terms of a “requirement” to buy insurance, it says that individuals “shall” buy it, and it levies a “penalty” on those who refuse. As the conservative dissent points out, these are the hallmarks of a “regulatory penalty, not a tax.”…

It now falls to the Republicans, and especially to Mitt Romney, to make the case for the repeal of the law and for its replacement by something better than either it or the health-care policies that preceded it…Opponents should take heart: The law remains unpopular. Let the president and his partisans ring their bells today, and let us work to make sure that they are wringing their hands come November.  Read more.

My decision is made.

If Obama wins then this smug , communist,POS, Obama will be celebrating and laughing at us.So will the media and liberals.

Just to see these smug, communist villains ( the media, liberals, Obama) crying and humiliated for years is worth it for me to vote for Romney . Even better if Romney repeals Obamacare then they all will be further humiliated.

What is best in life?

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.

Obviously liberals are not your enemies .

Hell , just to see the liberal mainstream media defeated ( they want Obama to win) is worth everything to me. I hate the media most of all as they are ultimately responsible for all the problems we have in America. The media have ruled America for 100 years as they control what people think. Just to see the media defeated is enough for me to vote for someone than can beat Obama. My decision is made. You can spam the board all day for all I care.

It’s difficult to fathom the hypocrisy of a Government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured ... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen.

Nice dream, but never gonna happen in reality.

1) What are the chances that Reid would allow it to come up for a vote in the Senate?

2) Should it be repealed in both the House and Senate, what are the chances that Obama would not veto it?

The one great thing about bringing a repeal vote is that it is going to force a lot of democraps to go on record against the American people just prior to an election.

Voting for Romney is like saying I must blow my head off with a pistol now so I don't die of cancer someday. That Elitist Progressive was one of the founding fools of Obamacare. There is no way I will give the likes of Romney {Omaba The Second} or anyone like him my vote.

There is an actual Conservative running. That conservative Virgil Goode of The Constitution Party gets my vote and support. The Progressive Party now united as the GOP and Democratic Party and the spineless political fagots called the GOP hierarchy can go pound sand and rot on the political vine in he**.

So you say it’s better to let this POS Obama marxist keep his Obamacare and laugh at us now being enslaved and give Obama a victory in November. Or would you rather see this POS Obama defeated and humiliated along with the media defeated? Romney says he’ll repeal Obamacare. So you want most of the economy under socialism? Those 2 things alone should be enough to vote against Obama. Remember that Bush beat Gore by 500 votes. It could be your vote that gives Obama a victory so it can further destroy us and the U.S. , enslave us and lead us to be pets of his. Just to see this POS beat is worth anything to me . Look at the genocide they are doing against whites in South Africa as what this Obama has in store for us. Your vote for a 3rd party could be the vote that could have beat Obama if you vote for someone that could beat Obama instead. Why not just move to South Africa now as that is the U.S. ‘s future?

The way I see it, compared to Obama, Romney is a saint.

After all, Romney was not raised and brought up by black liberation theologist, anti-colonialist, marxist, communist, socialist anti-America radicals. Romney was not raised in a foreign country. Romney may be a Mormon, but at least he believes there IS a God and that it is NOT him. And Romney does NOT surround himself with Communist/Socialist, Anti-American radicals, at EVERY level.

I think the theology and beliefs behind the man are just as important, if not more so, than the politics and policies he’s supported. And while I don’t agree with many of Romneys socialist policies and that they DO align with Obama on many counts....I believe they are DIFFERENT men, with different ideals and different beliefs in what America should be.

Romney is after all, a CAPITALIST and he DOES have experience when it comes to running a business, managing people and positions and creating jobs.

My concern still lies however, with Romneys Progressivism and HOW influenced he is by the NWO elitist puppet masters.

I’m with you guys. We really need to pull American down as far as possible, so encouraging people to not vote for Romney, or, better yet, voting for 0bama will help ensure that four years from now all of America will see the error of its ways and vote for a true conservative!

True conservatism or bust!

Get a clue Partybot. How did that vote for the man who said He and Mr Gore were not that far apart on most issues work out for you and this nation? It gave us Obama. George W Bush did far more damage leading a two house majority than Gore could have done with at least some opposition. Bush took the GOP to the far left. Hail to the Chimp.

Let me remind you Bush appointed Roberts, Bush wanted TSA {an idea of none other than Fritz Ernest Hollings-D}, Bush wanted and got The Department Homeland Security, Bush wanted The Patriot Act, Bush abandoned our BP, Bush sat with his thumbs up his whatever while Rummy {The worse ever GOP Sec of Def not once but twice at the job} sat with his head up his whatever while troops faced court Martial, worse of all Bush asked for and got then expanded the office of POTUS to pave the way for Obama.

Don't you tell me how great your parties messiahs are. Don't you bad mouth me for voting for another party when all yours can offer is Marxist/Socialist Lite since Reagan left office. The GOP leadership of today are just as hell bent on destroying our nation as any Dem but the My Party Tis Of Thee Morons whom they count on no matter what every election refuse to abandon the GOP and help for a true opposing party and restore at least a two party system.

Why don't you move to NYC so Bloomberg-R or whatever party he is this week can mandate your life for you. Being a PartyBot you likely would have likely voted for him also. Right? A Marxist is a Marxist it doesn't matter what party they call themselves anymore. Until that sinks in to peoples thick skulls the GOP is the other Socalist Party. Take off the blinders and stop drinking the RNC Kool Aid. It's not going to change politically until another party steps in or we go through the process of 1776 once again. Right now I'd like to see a new political party made of Conservaties to try and head off such a drastic action.

The "you better vote for a Republican or a DEM might get elected" threat is dead. Stop being a GOP Apologist/Lap Dog Loyalist and help regain some control of our government howaboutit. There is a good Constitutional Conservative. If you are a Conservative you should support him. If you are a Republican well then I guess you like living under the Bipartisan One Party Rule.

BTTT! Everyone, if you are a true conservative, you will vote for someone who will help 0bama win and not Romney. Folks, it’s about principle. We need America to suffer as much as possible to bring about a true conservative revolution in four years, since we can’t have that with Romney this fall should he win.

Voting for 0bama or the true Constitutional Conservative of your choice will help keep the fraud that Romney is out of office!

Inability to become aroused over any of the choices for president.

Hopefully Romney will take many blue pills states to overcome some of our 'problems.'

Most definitely. Voting for 0bama or any conservative of your choice for president will be much more likely of achieving long-term conservative ideals.

Please people, listen to Fledermaus and DO NOT HELP ROMNEY this fall. It is far better to vote your conscience by voting for your favorite dark horse candidate. Perhaps even better, voting for 0bama can help a true conservative leader to win the presidency in four years. Trust me, America will be more than tired of 0bama by then and will welcome conservatives with open arms.

Keep the faith, Fledermaus!

I hate the Marxist, POS Obama and the media more than anything. I also hate how they have destroyed America and freedom. And i will do everything within my power to defeat this obama and the media this November . I want to see Obama, the media, and liberals crying and humiliated when their man ( and your man ) Obama is defeated. If that means voting for Romney then so be it.

I would say, in todays world, most “Conservatives” are pretty much Libertarians, at heart. After all, a Libertarian advocates the doctrine of free will and is a person who upholds the principles of individual liberty especially of thought and action and believes in the US Constitution, wholly.

The other day I heard a caller, call in to Glenn Beck, discussing this very issue of voting for Romney and being afraid of his “Progressivism” and “voting for the lesser of 2 evils” AGAIN.

He made the point that for Libertarians, in that putting all this hope and faith into Romney to fix things is against the small government, Libertarian mindset. We should not therefore, expect ONE guy to fix this country. It will take voting Conservative at ALL levels of government, and getting in as many TRUE representatives as possible, and getting out the corrupt ones.

That said, because of who is in office now (at all levels) one man HAS done a lot of damage. Obama has bypassed so many departments and levels of government, to push forward HIS agenda. He has made Congress irrelevant. He has made the Constitution irrelevant. He has been acting above the laws and what he says goes. NO ONE IS STOPPING HIM. And considering what he’s done so far, if Obama gets any more time, I fear, we won’t have a country to fix. So in my opinion, it has to be ANYONE BUT OBAMA. With him gone, his entire administration is gone, and I feel the “radicals” who have done so much damage to this country, will be gone.

I also argue with my husband, who claims to be conservative, but yet speaks like an anarchist, when he says he’s willing to even vote in Obama again, so the whole thing will fully collapse and then we can rebuild it the way we want. I don’t know how many have this mindset, but I think it’s the most dangerous and naive of all. I can’t seem to get it through to him that Progressives have been building their “foundation” to rebuild as they want for decades. They WANT to collapse everything so they can rebuild what THEY want...their NWO/Global Governance. He’s fully aware of the NWO/Global thing, even more so than I, but why he can’t understand the “foundation” and who is more organized, takes control, I don’t know. Yes, we have the Constitution as our foundation, but we are not as organized and set to take over and rebuild as they are, IMO.

I just know I for one, don’t want it to totally collapse. And I still believe God STILL has his hand in all this and HE is still in control. I believe there is still hope WE can turn this around and take our country back. God willing. It took these a-hole Progressives 40+ years to bring us to this point...and I think many want (or expect) to just turn it around quickly and have the perfect candidates in place. It’s going to take time to bring it back, IMO...slowly, but if we continue to stay alert, and awake, and NEVER EVER go back to complacency, we CAN take this country back and turn things around.

Take the quiz and see where you rate: http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz

LOL My posting history since 1999 says I'm not a DEM nice try though. I am a Constitutional Conservative. That is neither Republican nor Democrat. My Presidential voting record since coming of age was Ford 1976, Reagan 1980, Reagan 88, Bush 89, Bush 02, Dole 06 {my last vote for GOP choice in the General election}, Phillips in 2000, Peroutka in 2004, Chuck Baldwin 2008, and it will be Virgil Goode in 2012. In the GOP Primaries up till this year I voted for Alan Keyes who was the most conservative man running in the GOP. So that makes you what? It makes you a Rockefeller Republican.

I've been inside a Communist nation before {twice actually} and likely also have seen a lot more of the true third world nation than you ever have or will. I've seen six year olds who could kill you for your pocket change. Maybe that is why I can clearly see both parties as being one in the same and you don't? I saw Marshall Tito's Iron Fist rule in Yugoslavia a couple of port visits and that is where we are headed with either Romney or Obama. I've seen the old political hold outs in Italy as well like the bad side of Taranto and I don't mean Toranto Canada. I am voting for neither one I am voting Conservative because I am a Conservative.
