STORM UPDATE 6/30:
A line of severe storms packing winds of up to 80 mph has caused extensive damage and widespread power outages in Virginia. Dominion Virginia Power crews are assessing damages and restoring power where safe to do so. We appreciate your patience during this restoration process. Additional details will be provided as they become available.

Ok. Cue the plague of frogs.
I know folks complain about the power company not getting their power on ‘fast enough’ when this sort of thing happens. Me ... I’ve gotten to the point I appreciate so much what the repairmen do. We just had two days of no power after a ‘derecho’ hit Monday afternoon. Fortunately, we got the power back before the triple digit temps hit as my dad cannot breathe in the heat & needs air conditioning. I would not want to be Dominion, knowing it is physically impossible to get everyone back on quickly - I suspect we will see some deaths as a result of the heat & no power.
My thoughts & prayers are with all affected by the storm and for the safety of the guys out there working day and night, trying to get the power back on. This is a real disaster ..... who would think a line of T-storms could do this much damage. It’s a good reminder that we all, despite our technology and everything we’ve built for ourselves, are still at the mercy of ‘nature’.
as long as the potomac is red for fall.
Wow, VA really got hammered.
One of my daughters said they got very little rain where she is, but the wind was so strong that the house was shaking. Thankfully, neither she nor my other daughter are without power.
I’m sorry to see that the storm isn’t bringing any relief from the heat. That’s extremely bad news with the temps as they are.
We had a house shaker in VA Beach too. Thank goodness that wind didn’t last long! Just saw a weather report that said the same area that got hit last night will probably get hit again tonight!
This is why we preppers have generators and portable air conditioners.
Relatives in DC said it was bad, but their utilities are underground, so okay. Friends of theirs in the burbs are coming to stay with them because their power is out and supposed to be 102 today.
Gomorrah’s first plague. Thank you Judge Roberts for bringing the wrath of the Almighty down on your head. I hope it was worth it to you. And I would just remind you “what profits a man if he gains the world but loses his soul.”
PS - San Francisco is clearly Sodom so D.C. has to be Gomorrah.
