According to the conventional wisdom, beginning in 2006, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms decided to allow guns to "walk" over the U.S. border with Mexico. Federal agents let suspected straw buyers for the Mexican drug cartels buy high-powered weapons from American dealers with the idea of tracing them into the inner recesses of the cartels.
Instead, the agents lost track of nearly all of the 2,000 guns in the scheme dubbed "Fast and Furious," and the American government became an unwitting accomplice in the inhuman violence south of the border. As a result, a U.S. Border Patrol agent is dead - Brian Terry was killed in an Arizona shootout, and two rifles traced to "Fast and Furious" were found at the scene - and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has been called on the carpet by Congress.
Let's be clear: "Gun walking" was a lousy idea when the administration of President George W. Bush tried it - and it was still a bad idea when the administration of President Barack Obama resurrected it. But a Fortune investigation published last week says the conventional wisdom is wrong: ATF agents never intentionally allowed guns to fall into the hands of Mexican drug cartels.

—ping and hope your pinglist floods the J-S with refutation of this garbage-—
Conflates “Wide Receiver” wiht “Fast and Furious”.
Wide Receiver was stopped after promised cooperation from Mexican officials failed to materialize. If fact it was dead when Obama took office.
Too much documentation now mounting that F&F was intended to spur public revulsion at gun deaths. Can you imagine a deliberate policy of the U.S. Govt. that 300 people have to be killed to get gun control passed?
The glue is coming loose on the Administration’s claims.
Wisconsin ping list: The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel opines on Fast & Furious and gets it wrong. Flood them with letters.
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
I just added my own to it.
“Instead, the agents lost track of nearly all of the 2,000 guns in the scheme dubbed ‘Fast and Furious,’ and the American government became an unwitting accomplice in the inhuman violence south of the border.”
Unwitting? Are they nuts?
There was no compromise over the healthcare monstrocity. It has been rammed down our throats by all three branches of govt.
The glue is coming loose on the Administrations claims.

But, will anything ever come of this? Prolly not. Eric Holder will sit in his big office, behind his big desk and laugh while John Boner sits in the Speaker’s Chair and cries. What can they do? They have the Constitutional right to arrest him, BUT THEY WON’T! This “Contempt” thing will end up being the biggest joke of the year in D.C. In a few months, Fast and Furious will be forgotten and the American people, once again, will suffer a great disservice at the hands of both political parties.
Shame on all their houses!!!
Let's be clear, it's like everything else that idiot of an American hating leader has accomplished since soiling the Oval Office........
"IT'S BUSHES FAULT"!!!
Compromise my butt.
God only knows how many have died and compromise ain’t justice.
There’s that word “COMPROMISE” again.
This is horse dung.
They are trying to place the blame on Bush with it and they are denying that Obama did this knowingly in order to work under the radar to get our 2nd. Amendment rights from us.
there was nothing unwitting about what Obama’s Justice amd ATF departments did. It was intentional.
-Fortune has an article attempting to defend Fast and Furious, and it is amazing how much error it contains. Let's start with the second paragraph: Some call it the "parade of ants"; others the "river of iron." The Mexican government has estimated that 2,000 weapons are smuggled daily from the U.S. into Mexico. The ATF is hobbled in its effort to stop this flow. No federal statute outlaws firearms trafficking, so agents must build cases using a patchwork of often toothless laws. Let's see, there's the official campaign of BATF to remind people that you can go to prison for strawman purchases: Buying a gun for someone who is prohibited by law from possessing one or for someone who does not want his or her name associated with the transaction is a "straw purchase." 1. An illegal firearm purchase (straw purchase) is a federal crime. 2. An illegal firearm purchase can bring a felony conviction sentence of ten years in jail and a fine of up to $250,000. 3. Buying a gun for someone who can't can cost you your good name and land you in big trouble. Here's the web page telling you that you need an export license to permanently export firearms out of the U.S. I'm sorry, but when someone has so much wrong by the second paragraph, and quotes Legal Community Against Violence as a credible source, why bother reading the rest.--
What can they do? What they can do and must do and continue to do is ALL THEY CAN! Keep the issue alive and in front of the public as long as they can. Keep HAMMERING on the illegal and deceptive behavior of this crooked Administration and force the media to cover it as they were forced to cover it when the House brought contempt charges against Holder.
Using truth against this Administration is like pouring chlorine bleach on a stinking pile of puss. Their deception only works when practiced in the shady areas where half truths and lies live and will wither and die when the bright white light of truth is shined on them.
I'm sure that the government has a complete org. chart of all the cartels. F&F's sole purpose was to destroy the 2nd Ammendment in the US.
They mean witless...
NO!...Congress should not compromise with a WHITE HOUSE chocked full of liars, Obama and white house staff...what is a “compromise” when dealing with liars? There has to be a better definition of this word “compromise”.
