Evidence of 'God particle' found

GENEVA (AP) -- Scientists working at the world's biggest atom smasher plan to announce Wednesday that they have gathered enough evidence to show that the long-sought "God particle" answering fundamental questions about the universe almost certainly does exist.

But after decades of work and billions of dollars spent, researchers at the European Organization for Nuclear Research, or CERN, aren't quite ready to say they've "discovered" the particle.

But after decades of work and billions of dollars spent

Research grants and starving peoples' around the world...

And to think, some oppose manned space exploration. It's all about empire building for grant money.

almost certainly does exist.

Seems to me I've heard that song before.

President Reagan wanted to build a 40 trillion electron volt super large particle accelerator in Texas. 3 times more collision energy than the one in CERN.

But it was canceled by Clinton in 1993.

“President Reagan wanted to build a 40 trillion electron volt super large particle accelerator”

What was the price tag per electron volt?

It didn’t cost me a single penny to know that God exists.

I cannot find information about what the ‘god’ particle is, and why it is called the ‘god’ particle. I do see it is linked to atheism somehow.

But the article says it answers fundamental questions about the universe.

wha tha?

why it is called the ‘god’ particle.

Physicists have a weird sense of humor.

It is far more accurately called the Higgs Bosom and has been by the Standard Model of particle physics. It has not yet been actually observed but effects ties to it in the theoretical model have. The “god particle” is just the name given it by the MSM to needle religious people. The press wants the reaction so they can have yet another story about “look how dumb these people are”. More of today’s hyper political atmosphere and the capture of the press by evangelical atheists.

From Wiki:
The Higgs boson is often referred to as "the God particle" by the media, after the title of Leon Lederman's popular science book on particle physics, The God Particle: If the Universe Is the Answer, What Is the Question?

Lederman said he gave it the nickname "The God Particle" because the particle is "so central to the state of physics today, so crucial to our understanding of the structure of matter, yet so elusive," but jokingly added that a second reason was because "the publisher wouldn't let us call it the Goddamn Particle, though that might be a more appropriate title, given its villainous nature and the expense it is causing."

Physicists have a weird sense of humor.

Apparently so, at least in this case.

God’s gracious blessings are free. I do believe that it helps one’s heart to recognize and acknowledge them.

No physicist calls it that; it’s called the Higgs Boson and is expected to be the agent that gives matter mass.

What an ironic situation.
We are smashing atoms and looking at sub atomic particles to find God.
All the while we are standing on a sub atomic particle as far as God is concerned, And He is looking at us.
