Virgil Goode: Constitution Party Candidate for President [ What about Goode? Is he like Paul? ]
thenewamerican.com ^ | June 19, 2012 | Thomas R. Eddlem

While all of the mainstream press focuses upon the phony horse race between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney for president, many Americans may be surprised to find that they will have several choices on their ballots in November. One of those other choices is the Constitution Party candidate Virgil H. Goode, Jr. and his vice presidential running mate, attorney Jim Clymer.

Labeled “Mr. Independent” by his home newspaper in Virginia, the Richmond Times-Dispatch, former six-term Virginia Congressman Virgil Goode has demonstrated a willingness to change parties when his principles did not comport with his party. Goode was elected to the Virginia state Senate as a Democrat, and served his first two terms as a congressman as a Democrat. But he became a political independent in the year 2000, and was reelected twice as an independent before switching to the Republican Party. Goode may have a major impact on the final race, as the former Virginia congressman is currently polling at five percent in the Virginia presidential primary. Virginia is a key swing state in the presidential race, and support for Goode could tilt the outcome of the state in the race.

You better get off your hinders and start canvassing neighborhoods for the Conservative

That horse left the barn this spring.

You make the push right after the November election, not just before it.

That's what it took to get rid of Lugar here in Indiana.

He didn’t run as a Republican.

He’s running as the Constitution party nominee. In the last election they were on ballots in 37 states.

Four more years of obama will be so much better, eh?

Romney is a slower version of obama's ultimate destruction.

With the Grace of The Good Lord, maybe it will buy us some time to save this Country.

So, do we bet on a chance or yield so assured tyranny?

Now is not the time to vote for a 3rd party. Ross Perot got us Clinton! We simply cannot afford to have Obummer reelected.

At this point the effort suggested would be futile. Unless something miraculous happens at the conventions the candidates are decided.

There is no will in America at this point for a Conservative candidate, especially an obscure conservative. The primaries were held and showed that all conservative candidates combined couldn’t muster the strength and money required to secure the nomination or the funds.

When we look out across America we see no conservative that presently has the stature to assume the mantle of President. There are many good conservatives but none presently has the stature to prevail. Several tried but proved themselves unable to gather the support for the job. It can be argued that Governor Palen, the favorite of many realized these circumstances and never committed to a race that would not be won. That decision was likely based on rational analysis rather than exuberant hope.

To make a critical statement based on facts and reality does not mean one does not hold to conservative values. it means that a rational look at recent political races clearly shows that conservatives do not have adequate muscle to prevail.

The nomination race is over.

To drag in some nobody and hide behind behind his credentials is to make one’s self irrelevant. A real vote for Mr Goode, regardless of how good a conservative or man is to become irrelevant in the coming showdown. That is, unless you live in California or some other dark blue state where the outcome is preordained and your vote is irrelevant anyway.

Those are the facts, the cold hard truth.

But all is not gloom and doom. The statements above do not apply to local races. The effort s by conservatives mus now be directed to house and Senate seats. I choose to devote my efforts and money to selected Senate races. I view the recapture of the Senate as being more important than the Presidency. If there is a Republican Senate, the Messiah is crucified the minute he is re inaugurated. If Romney is elected, his actions will be at the behest of the Senate. The more conservative House will also be able to develop and pass legislation that conservatives will prefer to anything Obama will try.

Do not make a futile charge of the light brigade. Devote the effort , words and money to battles that can and must be won in in the Senate and House. My Republican Senator and Congressman will be reelected. They need no money. I will devote some and effort to a Republican Conservative in another State. I would urge my FRiends to do so as well.

Is Virgil good as an alternative to Obama and Mitt?

Yes. He'll probably end up getting my vote.  Not completely sure yet, but Mitt definitely won't be it.

What difference does it make? He won’t be elected president even if you and several million of your friends vote for him.

Hang in their FRiend!. Remember, that to become the 2nd Party you have to go through 3rd. Your vote is yours to cast as you are motivated. John Quincy Adams said many years ago, "Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost."
