McConnell: We’ll Repeal Obamacare, One Way or Another
National Review Online ^ | July 3, 2012 | Robert Costa

Posted on 07/04/2012 6:50:29 AM PDT by Jedidah

" . . . Repeal of Obamacare will be the first item up in the Senate if I am majority leader. If we have a president who will sign the bill, we will do everything we can to get it off the books, and we’ll be looking for every angle that could be pursued. There has been a lot of talk about reconciliation. The Chief Justice said this is a tax, and we take him at his word, so that certainly makes this eligible for reconciliation. But that may not be the only avenue that we pursue. Our goal will be to get it off the books. In my view, it is the single worst piece of legislation that has been passed in modern times, and I’ve said that on numerous occasions. It’s still my view. And just because the Supreme Court has decided it is constitutional doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do."

The exemptions mean that those union members or whatever get to keep their insurance policies in force as written, no rationing, no cuts that will effect the other insurance policies. Since the teachers and other public sector union members are already covered by an existing policy, that is the only possible meaning for an exemption. No redistribution of services for union members.

So, if a teacher get the kind of incurable breast cancer which the government says should not be covered, I presume that the teacher insurance would still cover it.

It really isn’t clear how the exemptions will work.

That kind of tit for tat executive authority is a tyranny. Imagine the convulsions as one side or the other gets into the Imperial Presidency. What Romney should do:

1. Actively work to reduce and check the power of the Executive Branch. ie. Get Congress back to writing our laws and not the EB.

2. Grant waivers based on the belief that Congress will overturn Obamacare. Make Congress act like they’re supposed to.

Roe v. Wade is being repealed bit by bit both in the judicial courts and the court of public opinion. We’re winning on the gun control debate and if only Americans weren’t so gun ignorant most of federal gun control would dissolve.

It wouldn’t be the first or last time the media lied for liberalism.

Perhaps it would be easier to work locally and demand our Governors and State Legislators also work toward...

Good suggestion. I think all FReepers should operate under Psalm 146:3 - Do not trust in princes, In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation.

If we really believe in the 10th Amendment let's act like it.

We should form Committees of Correspondence and petition our state leaders to do this. We don't need every state, just a dozen would make all the difference. It's what Federalism is all about.

I think that’s the easiest solution in the short run that anyone could come up with. After all, if Zero can rule by ExOrder, and if Congress doesn’t fund it, it may as well not exist.

Sounds like Mitchie felt the heat this week from the blowback about his waffling on repeal. Glad to see he is back at the front of the choir again.

Once you give a populace something "for free", you can NEVER take it away.

I would be absolutely SHOCKED and STUNNED of the Republicans were to do it, no matter who becomes President. I would give the RNC 1000 dollars if they did.

Yes, Mr. Leader, it will be difficult. Most worthwhile things in life are, so get cracking.

I place the odds of repeal at less than 1 in 3.

McConnell and gang have no intentions of even trying to get a repeal.

Just donate to the GOPe reelection funds and shut up because we need the GOP to save us from this constant move to socialism that we are stuck with.

“We should form Committees of Correspondence....”

A term with a history going back to the pre revolutionary war colonies.

Unfortunately the Communist Party USA has co-opted the name.....google it......sigh!

How in God’s name could such weak links like McConnell and Boehner have won leadership positions? Both are shameful representatives. Bob

The GOP-e doesn’t look for “leaders”.

They pick the best brown-noses.
