Three out of 10 specialist units will stop performing heart surgery on children following an NHS review which decided resources were spread too thinly. The Royal Brompton in Chelsea, west London, Leeds General Infirmary and Glenfield Hospital in Leicester will not stop providing surgery immediately as plans to implement the new streamlined service are still being developed. Once they stop providing surgery, probably after 2013, the units will still see patients for diagnosis, monitoring and non-surgical treatment. The consultation process by the Joint Committee of Primary Care Trusts (JCPCT) of England

Coming soon to a pediatric care center near you, courtesy of Obamacare. Coming to geriatric care centers also.
And people here think Sarah is a kook!
She is proven correct, again.
I am afraid that unless ObamaCare is quickly repealed, in 10 years the Republicans will be reduced to telling voters how much better they would run the local Death Panel than those inefficient Democrats are.
You are so right, just look north of the border, and see the conservative government there are doing just that, althought Harper is probably the best PM Canada ever had, most of the rest of his party is much more liberal, so be prepared to go on a waiting list-——— or do something about it in November, now that we all know the SCOTUS is not going to bail us out, lock and load
BTW : They crush the rich with taxes there, it's very ‘fair’
there you go talking about all that supply/demand stuff again...
Oh, and Prince William and his new bride just dropped some 80,000 dollars on plane flights at taxpayer expense. Was just reading it in the news.
If this is how they treat the children, I just shudder to think what it will be like for the elderly, of which I will be one in less than 30 years. We will just be pastured out to die after 65.
As I train to be a nurse practitioner, I am taking note of of the MANY conditions that they simply do not screen for after a certain age — breast cancer, really ANY type of cancer — it’s just OVER after 75 now. You just figure that once it’s detected, I guess we’ll do palliative care, and that will be it. Forget trying to find cancers at earlier stages ... all the “guidelines” are changing.
Bump
A 30% drop in sources for the surgery and you think it's misleading? Don't pooh-pooh or miss the point for a technicality.
The Cleveland Clinic does all their heart surgeries in Cleveland, in spite of having hospitals in other states, so consolidation isn't all that unusual.
The title is misleading because it makes it sound like all surgeries will end.
Nationalized medicine turns human beings into line items on a spreadsheet as costs to be managed. In other words, it changes people from unique individuals with liberty into a generalized commodity to be managed centrally. The kicker is that the central managers will do so with “cost reduction” as their only concern.
That means that our daily lives MUST be directed by the central managers in order for them to know the best stage for them to effectively manage our deaths.
We are all nothing more than commodities or chattle now!
The medical centers in the UK which are being forbidden from performing the procedures, DISAGREE with the plan the bureaucrats have come up with.
The title is not misleading. This is how I initially read it.....
Hospitals Told Child Heart Surgery Will Stop
The only time my father came close to killing someone was at the birth of my sister's first child. The doctor arrived drunk and the hospital failed to stop him from carrying out the Cesarean procedure. My sister nearly died. The child did, though. I honestly think that if she had also died, I would have grown up without a Dad.
The hospital system I use only does major heart surgeries at one facility. That's probably the most economical way to do it.
Same here. Our hospital is a small-town facility, part of a network of five hospitals in the same system. It’s great for non-life threatening surgeries, i.e., knee replacements, prostate surgery, etc., as well as emergency care. For anything major, you get referred to the hospital in Corvallis, OR, about an hour and a half drive from the Coast. If you have a sudden life-threatening condition, you get stabilized here, then ambulanced or air-lifted to Corvallis.
In western Kentucky they send major cases to Vanderbilt in Nashville.
Thanks for the ping.
Those who die from being denied surgery died with (national) health care coverage so it is OK. I am sure their parents will be grateful.
Obamacare will keep 'the people' in line - doesn't matter how green your money is - it matters WHO you know. Just like every other crappy little two-bit hell hole country in the world...
Socialized medicine capitalizes on the popular (human) belief that anything I get that I don't directly pay for is like me winning the lottery, even if indirectly it takes everything and controls my life.
Look at each 4 year cycle POTUS election of the next Santa.
” Elites in all countries will be able to save their own children from the horror of death by liberal health care, but average people will watch their children die.
