..................In recent years, speaking to audiences hither and yon, I’m wont to say something on the lines of “The lamps are going out on liberty all over the world.” It’s my update on a famous observation by Edward Grey, British foreign secretary on the eve of the Great War. In August 1914, Sir Edward stood at his window in the summer dusk, and said, “The lamps are going out all over Europe.” He was speaking metaphorically. After all, his remark was prompted by the sight of London’s lamplighters going about their evening routine lighting the lamps in Whitehall. Metaphorically speaking, the lights of liberty were certainly dimmed by Roberts’s hideously convoluted Supreme Court decision: I don’t see why I should be fined $695 for declining to participate in an overpriced and dysfunctional “insurance” “market.”
But that’s a philosophical argument, and most folks just want to get on with their lives. And in that sense last week’s power outages are more relevant to where the U.S. is headed than what passes for John Roberts’s thinking in his Obamacare opinion. It was a reminder, as if you needed one, that in the American twilight the lights will be going out literally. Last week, as the East Coast was fading to black, the West Coast was sinking deeper into the red: Stockton, Calif., became the largest U.S. city to date to file for bankruptcy. America is seizing up before our eyes, and the action necessary to reverse the sclerosis is stymied at every turn by rapacious unions, government micro-regulators, dependency-spreading social engineers, and crony capitalists who know how to weave their way through the bureaucracy...........

A second American revolution is coming.
I think his rather varied background, including Canadian, Christian with Jewish lineage, educated at a “public” school in England, resident of the US (not sure if he is US citizen) shines in his work.
Are Americans ready to become slaves? Where is the tipping point? Has any nation ever legislated itself back from the brink of tyranny?
We are down to prayer and the 2nd Amendment.
Regarding the latter, WHO will be our George Washington, John Addams, and Thomas Jefferson, and be the first to put his balls on the line?

The world is being prepped. As economies crumble, the cry to end national sovereignty and create a “new world government” is fed to the masses.
No one is ready for this. It is exactly what is happening.
Regarding the history of republics, you should make this inquiry of Sulla’s wife, not Cincinnatus’; Cincinnatus simply went home when the job was done.
Roman history is chock-full of currently relevant careers and events, none of it very hopeful or encouraging, however.
I doubt that a new Revolution is coming.. half the people in this country are good with America`s decline.
I may still be proven right down the road though.
Watched a history show on PBS last night: Ten Crucial Days. (excellent show, highly recommended)It was about the Battles of Trenton and Princeton during the American Revolution, the hardships, Washington’s genius, etc. Made me cry because of all the suffering, struggles and hard-won victories and those ^%$&#&#, Roberts and Obama, flushed them down the crapper in one fell swoop.
I struggle to find graciousness for them.
Not to mention all those where the tyranny fell because it was defeated in war: Italy, Japan, Germany, France (again, several times), etc.
Off-hand I can't think of one that went up and peeped over the edge and then stepped back. But I'll give it some thought.
Off the top of my head, the full quote was “The lamps are going out all over Europe, and we shall not see them lit again in our lifetimes.”
He was right.
The next morning, Germany invaded Belgium on their way to France.
Europe to this day has not recovered.
