Gay-rights supporters are openly rallying sympathizers who until now may have been content to stay in the closet - young conservative Republicans.
“Freedom and family are core conservative values,” said conservative gay activist Margaret Hoover, a leader of a new campaign called Young Conservatives for the Freedom to Marry.
“We have a historic opportunity to reaffirm these.. values by supporting the fundamental freedom to marry... ” ...
Other members of Young Conservatives for the Freedom to Marry leadership... said they expect their new group to inspire other young conservatives “to ... “accelerate” the acceptance of same-sex marriage.
However, the leader of a national organization fighting to preserve one-man, one-woman marriage said there is no evidence of grass-roots support for gay marriage among conservatives.
“It’s not conservative to want to undermine marriage,” said Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage.
“One of the core pillars of conservatism is protecting and uplifting marriage as the union of a man and a woman” - and all major conservative thinkers - “the fountainhead of American conservatism” - were agreed on that, he said. “It doesn’t represent the grass roots, I can tell you that.”
The new campaign is part of Freedom to Marry, an organization founded in 2003 by gay activist and attorney Evan Wolfson ...

There is no way to divorce social values from the greater conservatism of the GOP, regardless of what some RINOs may think, or what they imagine some libertarian ideology has showed them.
This is a dangerous group. My brother got involved with them in college and, after 22 years of living a VERY heterosexual life, he “realized he is ‘bisexual’”, developed the gay, girly accent in his speech, and now lives with an even more flamboyantly gay male.
The homosexual agenda has always been, and always will be, about unrestricted access to young flesh.
I am 25 and I see more younger people being drawn into the gay marriage stuff. It’s an easy debate IMO. Just ask them where they draw the line. Pedophilia? Incest?
And I agree with the previous poster. You can’t be a conservative and be for gay marriage.
I blame this on parents who haven’t taken the time to study our culture, and understand the war that is being waged against it. They’ve entrusted their children to pop culture. More than that, half the parents, even those calling themselves conservatives, have watered their intelligence down with pop culture.
Unfortunately, anyone who has ever seen episodes of “Savage U” knows that your brother’s experience is the fate of hundreds of thousands of college students.
The title has me envisioning Obama in drag waving a handkerchief at young men.
It all happened so quickly. I graduated from college not that long ago, 2001, and there was no gay presence there... and it was a liberal school. Now they are everywhere.
Freedom to Mary?
Any discussion of the subject of marriage, which simply ignores that it is functionally the way society sanctifies the procreational process & incorporates it into multi-generational family and societal purpose, is idiotic. The concept of marriage between people of the same sex is no more rational than the concept of marriage with a rock or bucket of water.
In Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew," calling the sun the moon, did not make it such; nor did anyone in the audience imagine that it did. This ongoing discussion in the media says a great deal about where this generation in the West ranks historically.

I am sorry for your family tragedy and will pray for your brother.
Perhaps even more tragic, your brother illustrates a story that may surprise many who would think that being involved with the Young Conservatives in college would foster a wholesome lifestyle of patriotism and conservative American values, but instead forced him down that dark path.
Hopefully, others can learn from your brother’s mistake and understand that even in the most wholesome environments, like the Young Conservatives, there will be those who will attempt to convert our young innocent children to homosexuality.
Homos “woo” any young person of their own sex, Left or Right all they want is to either rape or seduce young heterosexuals because the whole point of being a homosexual or lesbian is to have sex with heterosexuals of the sex as your own—which means if they do have sex with you they are not heterosexuals...ergo the mental illness because one cannot possibly be a female man and have sex with a man nor can one be a manly man and have sex with a man...you are still just a biological freak and sex change surgery only makes you a stupid and mutilated biological freak...this is why homosexuals who do not choose curative psychological therapy often flash their silly asses and try to make life miserable for those who have accepted with happy, healthy, wholesome and realistic logic their genetically predetermined sex.

Yet, if heteros did those things in public, we’d be arrested for public indecency at the least.
There is no “same-sex marriage.” Marriage is God’s plan for a man and a woman to be united in “one flesh.” Homosexuals can get a piece of paper from the state, or even find a fallen “church” to pronounce them “married,” but God is not involved in their arrangement.
Ask the Boy Scouts of America whose 1st Amendment right to free association has been trashed in numerous venues.
Come back in five years and tell us what's happened to the first Amendment free exercise rights of churches which don't recognize or perform "gay marriages."
Ask the photographer, or the renters, or the restauranteurs, or the many hotel managers who have religious objections to providing services to gay couples who've been fined or forced to undergo "reeducation" what the compelling state interest is in promoting homosexuality that overrides their free exercise rights.
