A Papa John’s delivery man shot and injured a teen who allegedly tried to rob him, and police said the man shot the teen with his own gun.

But the 19-year-old is telling police he was the victim.

At 11:45 a.m., officers responded to 89 Holly Road to investigate the alleged robbery and shooting, according to Atlanta police.

Mr. Javares Scott said he went to the location to deliver a pizza and when he arrived he was robbed by a person whom he later shot in the abdomen and right thigh, police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said.

“Mr. Scott advised police that he took the suspect’s gun away from him and shot him with his own gun,” Officer Jones said. “Mr. Scott then returned to the Papa John’s store and advised the manager of the robbery.”

But the delivery man, who still had the gun in his possession, then went home without calling the police to report what happened, she said.

When officers spoke with Mr. Scott, he was unable to pick out the alleged robber out of a photo lineup, Officer Jones said.

Mr. Paul Hammonds, the 19-year-old who was shot, told police he was walking down Holly Road when a man jumped out of the bushes and shot him “for no reason,” Officer Jones said.

“Mr. Hammonds gave two different descriptions of clothing of the suspect that he alleges shot him,” Officer Jones said.

Mr. Hammonds was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was immediately taken into surgery for his injuries.

Another person that was questioned in this incident, Mr. Ahmad Eli Thomas, 37, was charged with false representation to police for giving the wrong date of birth to officers, Officer Jones said.

Investigators are now trying to determine if the person who ordered the pizza is

The police tend to believe the first report of an incident. Most instructors advise those involved in a shooting to call police as soon as they are safe. Alan Korwin advises that someone else call the police, possibly a lawyer, because 911 calls are recorded and can be used against you in court.

His investigation shows that of self defense cases where the defender has been convicted, about 75 percent are convicted on evidence from the 911 call.

Amazing that the supervisor didn't call the cops.

On the face of it, it is hard to tell exactly who is boolshiite-ing whom. Better get Al and Jesse down there to straighten this pizza thing out.

BTW, good advice.

Sounds like the pizza guy would have been OK if he had just kept his mouth shut.

Now he is at the mercy of bizarro world.

I’d like to know whose prints are on the remaining rounds in the gun. Knowing who loaded it is a pretty good indicator of who introduced it into the fight.

Always finish him off, in fear for your life.

Most instructors advise those involved in a shooting to call police as soon as they are safe.

Depending on the 'hood you're in and your complexion, you may not be "safe" until you reach home and barricade the doors.

If you carry a "drop" piece, load it while wearing surgical gloves, and make sure it gets involved with the dead perp's hand while you are unsuccessfully trying to CPR him.

The delivery guy says he used the suspect’s own gun to shoot him. That gun should answer several questions, based on the forensic evidence within it.

Whose fingerprints and DNA are on the gun and bullet casings? If the shootee’s fingerprints and DNA are on the casings, and both individual’s prints and DNA on the outside of the gun, the pizza guy is right. However, if the prints and DNA on the gun and casings are solely that of the pizza guy, the shootee is likely telling the truth.

And clean the grips really well. Anything larger than a .22 will produce recoil that will make your skin cells an almost integral part of the grips if you have fired it; DNA analysis will tie it to you

Probably not, since the delivery guy shot the robber with the robber’s gun. Deliverers normally aren’t allowed to carry or have guns in their cars. This seems to be different.

This seems to be different.

I would agree, but logic has nothing to do with personnel policy.
