FRANCE: Some Family Drama Undoes Hollande’s Goal of ‘Normal’
The New York Times ^ | July 12, 2012 | STEVEN ERLANGER and MAÏA de la BAUME

If you believe the French weekly Le Point, Thomas Hollande, the 27-year-old lawyer and son of President François Hollande and his former partner, Ségolène Royal, blasted his father’s current partner in an interview for “putting private life in the public domain” by backing a political opponent of his mother.

If you believe Thomas Hollande, on the other hand, there was no such interview, just a conversation with a young woman who twisted his words. “I deny giving an interview to Le Point,” he told Agence France-Presse on Wednesday evening. “The comments reported, some of which are distorted or out of context, were made during a casual conversation” with a journalist, he said.

He did not specify which comments were distorted, and did not respond Thursday to repeated requests for clarification.

The journalist, Charlotte Chaffanjon, insisted in a posting on Twitter that “no remark has been distorted,” and noted confusingly that it was an “article” and not an “interview.”

Interviewed herself by telephone on Thursday, Ms. Chaffanjon was cautious. She said that she had known Thomas Hollande “professionally” for a year on the campaign trail, and that they had had lunch several times. “He knew exactly what he was doing,” she said, “he was very sincere.”

Poor Thomas, he has let the cat out of the bag that his father "moi, President" "Monsieur Normal" is a fake constructed image, and Valerie's tweet ruined it.      Thomas said about Valerie's famous tweet: “It destroyed the normal image that he had constructed.”

Oh! LaLa!
This has now become Dallas on the Seine, the soap opera the gossipy French love to hate.

Tomorrow is the Bastille Day. Everyone will be watching, like Kremlin watching in the old days, where Valerie will be.

Will the “First Lady” be by the President’s side? Even though she is first or second concubine, not wife.

They’re more than just a little bit inbred in France.

It always strikes me as strange to wish anyone a “Happy Bastille Day,” but Happy Bastille Day, Cincinna!

I agree completely, EDINVA.
Bastille Day is something I refuse to celebrate. The beginning of a bloody reign of terror that took the lives of tens of thousands of innocent men, women and children.

It became anti Christian, radical revolutionary bloodbath.
