Obama: "If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen."
whitehouse.gov ^ | July 13, 2012 | Barack Obama

Excerpt from the socialist-in-chief speech yesterday in Virginia:

"If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet."

IIRC, the internet was developed by the military and then was further used by universities. It was only, relatively, recently that it was expanded to business and other uses.

True, the internet basically expanded from DARPA. But government didn't supply the ideas for the businesses that have been created to complement the 'message board' that began as DARPA.

Many businesses are created as the opposite of something already there, or to provide an adjunct to an existing business. Doesn't mean the original business provided any of the capital to start the subsequent businesses, it only provided that spark of imagination for them.

He’s projecting based on his own life.

All his life he’s gotten everything without having to work for it. He has no understanding of what it takes to start and build a business.

He’s right, sort of.. Without the Globalists or the U.N., 0bama and his past would not have been invented.

"Obama: "If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen."

..... Therefore ..... under the logic of this intellectual giant ..... all we need is ..... more ...... many more people without businesses to create wealth!!! ....

I shudder to think what other nuggets of logic this leader of the entire free world thinks ....... I shudder :-(

"If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen."

Similar thoughts as the rest of you. . First thought was, "Is this really true, He Really said that?" Second was, "It's right out of an Ayn Rand novel." In fact I hope they incorporate it in the script of the Atlas Shrugged II movie. . Then I thought, "Has Obama ever held a job in the private sector?" I really wonder about that.

Does he have the first clue of how a business works? He obviously is such a hard core Marxist that I bet he has never 'experienced' the trials and tribulations of American business. . Never done payroll, never sweated the bottom line, never hired, fired, put up with the burdensome rules and regulations and paid the tax burden.

I assume someone taped this debacle. The RNC just needs to play the salient clips 24/7 on TV ads and the election is won by the Republican nominee.

Could Obama really run a lemonade stand and make it profitable? . . and then would he 'redistribute' the profits 'to each according to his/her need?'

Obama is a true product of progressive/Marxist/communist indoctrination. He really believes this stuff. The independent electorate needs to understand what a dire threat he is to our Sacred Republic.

This person nailed it: "The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to an electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."

The above translated into English from an article appearing in the Czech Republic as published in the Prager Zeitung of 28 April 2010.

“And I have to tell you that the privilege of being your President is something that I thank God for every single day.”

Because he doesn’t do anything!

"See, when government fails to solve a problem, it's the people's fault, not the government's."

Nice catch.

The tie-in between the 2nd and 3rd sentence is easy to miss amongst the rest of his dreck. He tried to sound as if he believes government doesn't have a role to play in every "problem" and yet the follow-on sentence gives the lie to the foregoing one. Breathtakingly disingenuous phrasing.

His ilk talk like that in private and I can't believe he actually said that
in public. The Left is openly telling us their plans and nobody is listening
because it's so absurd, Yet the drones keep voting these totalitarians into office.

FUBO..

You should understand the mindset this comes from. According to Obama and his
handlers they will tell you that the Gov provides the roads and your freedom to conduct business.
It is what they truly believe and they refuse to acknowledge any argument.

every job I ever had was a small or medium business.
1st. Worked at a full service gas station. My boss was there 7 days a week. Even Holidays. Took 1 week vacation a year.
2. Worked at a Office Supply Company. Boss and his wife was there six, sometimes seven, days a week. Hubby went on deliveries while wife took orders. They would take maybe a week vacation.
3. Work in a lumberyard. I dont even want to think about the hours the family who owns this company works.
Not one got help from taxpayers. They are/were built from the ground up by blood, sweat and tears.

That’s the philosophy of a Marxist. That’s Obama’s background coming out for all to see. The wealthy don’t deserve their wealth, because they didn’t “create” anything.

I agree with you. By his actions, he is an authoritarian socialist dictator. A second term would be the first on steroids.

"Aye carumba."

Like the majority of small businesses, I have no employees http://www.census.gov/econ/smallbus.html and have no intention of hiring any.

We have absolutely no debt, live where we want to live and I drive the car I want to drive. My kid's education is all paid for and she has her "dream job". Our main household expenses include taxes and food and from what I can see, we eat a lot less food than the majority of Zero's voters. I have to say I'm now enjoying the luxury of not being horribly busy on nights and weekends in addition to normal working hours. I was AMT'd years before it became fashionable, and I'm not any more.

I certainly have no intention of trying to drum up any more business so I can pay even more in taxes while that doofus is still occupying the White House. As a white guy who works and pays taxes, I've already ended up paying for every stupid idea that Washington DC, state and local politicians have come up with for the last 40 years.

Are there a lot of unemployed young people around who can do my job nearly as well as I do? I doubt it, in fact I don't think there are any. I know many if not most of the people in the business and they're almost all geezers like I am.

Well, Atlas may have shrugged but he still needs to go out to the beach for his exercise this morning. Too bad I don't play golf like Zero does, I could spend even more time on that.

In some ways, the stakes are even bigger now than they were in 2008, because what's at stake is not just two people or two political parties. What's at stake is a decision between two fundamentally different views about where we take the country right now. And the choice is up to you.

And there could not be any more truth than this from his speech. "Two fundamentally different views," note he is not saying anything about holding up the country to its Constitution! I watched part of this speech on C-SPAN and my mouth just hung open.

I do not understand how so many people can be bamboozled by him. I hope this is his last campaign and we have many more campaigns to come...as a Republic. But, read that section where he is laughing about 'campaigns'. It's weird..off, not quite right sounding.

Look at his speech and how he describes the American dream! Little vacation, little house, little..little ...little! Who the hell wants to dream little?

I did use the word “relatively” because although it was approximately 20 years ago that “everybody” began using the internet, it really has been around in one form or another since something like the 60s, maybe even the 50s (I don’t recall). People on this thread have rightly pointed out it was university professors who wanted to share data and then the military with DARPA (which I wrongly placed in reverse order) who developed the earliest forms of the ‘net.
