ABC News' George Will slammed presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney for failing to fully release information on his tax returns and offshore accounts, saying Romney "must have calculated that there are higher costs in releasing them."
"If something's going to come out, get it out in a hurry," Will said this morning on the "This Week" roundtable. "I do not know why, given that Mitt Romney knew the day that [John] McCain lost in 2008 that he was going to run for president again that he didn't get all of this out and tidy up some of his offshore accounts and all the rest."
"He's done nothing illegal, nothing unseemly, nothing improper, but lots that's impolitic," Will added. "And he's now in the politics business."

Political strategist and ABC News political analyst Matthew Dowd said "there's obviously something there" in Romney's tax returns that he doesn't want public, adding that Romney's refusal to release his prior returns was a sign of "arrogance."
"There's obviously something there, because if there was nothing there, he would say, 'Have at it,'" Dowd said. "So there's obviously something there that compromises what he said in the past about something."

This demand for Romney documents is a laughing stock, when the Nimrod in Chief can’t even provide his own birth certificate, can’t even explain why he uses a Connecticut social security number, when he never resided there.
Perhaps George Will should pull his head out of his ass, and start taking Obama to task for what he’s give him a four year pass for.

George Will has become quite the disappointment lately. Will is quite intelligent, quick witted, but his common sense seems to be sorely lacking. How transparent has obama been with his personal records?
What about all the F&F documents that haven’t been released? obama used executive privilege to hide those documents. What’s he hiding? Those seem just a tad more important than someone’s tax returns.
Will needs to dip into the common sense and principles well more often. His take on CJ Roberts’ decision was nothing short of ...well....idiotic.
If he does release them, he should also release every school record he can find, and make a BIG deal about them.
I agree he is intelligent, and somewhat unique in his demeanor. However, this doesn’t excuse his utter disregard for the other side of the conservative viewpoint.
He is, because he is isolated within the DC political pundit media as a token conservative, completely oblivious to ‘conservative America’....the conservative America that actuallly pays taxes, works, raises (tries to) their children in a wholesome, God-fearing environment.
He is now only interested now in accomodating and appearing as the subservient ‘loyal opposition’ - but with not too much opposition. Romney should lay down a gauntlet and just say he will release his tax returns if Obama releases his college transcripts and medical records.

Romney could demand Obama release those things, he's Obama's opponent.
No, Romney should unilaterally release a package with his tax records, his college transcripts, his medical records, his student loan records, his birth certificate and anything else that a might be of relevance. THEN, he can accuse Obama of not being transparent. In the meantime, he is merely playing the same game Obama is.

Granted that Will is a Rino, but so is Romney. Will is EXACTLY right. Romney knew he was running for the presidency. His files should have been cleaned up long ago. And if he's got them cleaned up and is just being coy, then he's being stupid coy.
Romney is a rino disaster, he's not got the support of conservatives, and if he doesn't quit stepping on it, they should find some graceful way to get him to step down.
And, tell me this, why in the world would Romney, who knew he was in this race, NOT have closed out those offshore and Swiss accounts years ago. Even an imbecile knows those would get attacked.
He can stand up there and shout "I'm proud of my success." all he wants, but why not be proud of it with cleaned up records and closed off-shore accounts? Why give them ammo? Why give them openings?
The man is a walking disaster, and just like Kennedy buried Romney with attacks based on the Bain years, Romney is still vulnerable in these areas.

Candidates aren't required to release tax returns. McCain and prior didn't release a vast back history of returns.
Why let Obama set this standard while he hides everything else?

I did see in the WA Post the McCain campaign got over 20 years worth of tax returns from Romney as part of the VP vetting process.
This was Romney's reply ahead of the South Carolina primary.
"You know, I looked at what has been done in campaigns in the past with Sen. McCain and President George W. Bush and others. They have tended to release tax records in April or tax season. I hadn't planned on releasing tax records because the law requires us to release all of our assets, all the things we own. That I have already released. It's a pretty full disclosure. But, you know, if that's been the tradition and I'm not opposed to doing that, time will tell. ... I sort of feel like we are showing a lot of exposure at this point. And if I become our nominee, and what's happened in history is people have released them in about April of the coming year, and that's probably what I would do."
But Obama doesn’t have to show his real birth certificate.
The Democrats are trying to smear Romney and put in some class warfare as well.
This is all smoke, from a guy who doesn't think he is required to release ANY records, including his own birth certificate.
When Obama does that, then I will be concerned about Romney.
Actually, he was leading the race against Kennedy. He was bragging about running to the left of Kennedy. He was promising the homsexual community the world, and he was making deals with abortionists.
But, that's not how Kennedy killed him off.
Kennedy attacked Bain and succeeded beyond his wildest.
And when Gingrich and Perry attacked Bain, they succeeded beyond their wildest.
Now, Obama is taking the same route. Who could be surprised? Like it or not it will resonate, and it will destroy Mitt Romney.
I watched an absolute killer ad on a Hannity special with Frank Luntz Friday night. It was Obama attacking Romney over Bain.
Here's what was amazing about it, ftD. The lines went above 90 for BOTH democrats and republicans.
You can shout, "I wasn't working there day-to-day." all you want, but when they point out that you were the CEO, the lone shareholder, and the OWNER, it appears that you are in trouble.
And you can scream "It was just creative destruction, man." until you're blue in the face, but the little guy is gonna turn you off.

Those who didn't vote for Romney in the primaries, understand conservatives reluctance in doing so, and that is fine.
What we have a hard time with is the constant bashing of the guy!
You don't like him, don't vote for him.
But he is the only alternative to Obama, so bashing him isn't helping anyone but Obama.
There is a real conservative in the race, and it makes sense to accurately tell the story about the liberals so folks will consider the conservative.
