(CBS News) With pressure building on Mitt Romney to release more of his past tax returns, Ron Paul on Tuesday added his voice to the chorus of people - including some Republicans - who say Romney should just bite the bullet and release the returns, according to Politico.
"Politically, I think that would help him," said Paul, Romney's former Republican presidential rival, in an interview with Politico. "In the scheme of things politically, you know, it looks like releasing tax returns is what the people want."
Democrats and the Obama campaign have relentlessly hammered Romney in recent days for his decision to make public just two years' worth of returns in the lead-up to November's election, collectively releasing a slew of campaign videos Tuesday questioning Romney's motives.
"Romney admits that over the last two years he's paid less than 15 percent in taxes on $43 million in income," a narrator intones in a new ad from the Obama campaign. "Makes you wonder if some years he paid any taxes at all."

Why not hold Obama to some set of reporting standards too, Ron?
I am beginning to believe our side can never win the White House again because we just can’t stick together. This is absurd that our candidate who has provided miles more documentation than Obama is under fire from our own side. Our side needs to learn how to win. There is always someone who wants to get a headline and go off script. The other side never seems to have this problem.
Reagan released 1 year. McCain and Kerry released 2 years (no, Kerry did not release Teresa’s). Romney is releasing 2 years. That is sufficient.
Black communists are excempt from having to release anything.
One more reason not to ever trust Ron Paul on anything. What a marooon. If Republicans would spend 10% of the time attacking Obama that they do attacking Romney, the election would already be over.
Romneys answer for releasing tax returns should be..
I DID... but Obamas life is a totally mystery..
College transcripts, passport, emigration papers from Indoesia where he lived as a citizen.. like that..
Did Ron Paul ever bring this matter up in the debates or the primaries?
He seemed to have had a truce with Mitt Romney to go after all of the other candidates instead.
Just Ron Paul and his Paulestinians trying to create chaos at the convention, hoping against hope it becomes an open one.
Guess what someone posted on my Facebook ? The “Mitt Romney bullied a kid in high school” story!. Seriously!!!???
For all we know, this fits Paul’s strategy to challenge Romney at the convention. I’m all for that.
Dump Romney!
Wrong Paul auditioning for a place on Morning Joe.
Unfreekin believable....
Our Economy is in the tank
Unemployment remains high and could get higher again.
Our debt will never ever get paid off.
The Country’s credit rating was lowered.
Cities all across the Nation are broke and many are filing bankruptcy..
And what is the major issue these MORONS are talking about?
Romney’s past tax filings......
Really? That is what is important to you all? Well bite me.....
Oh and I don’t even like Romney
“Romney admits that over the last two years he’s paid less than 15 percent in taxes on $43 million in income,” a narrator intones in a new ad from the Obama campaign.
Good for him.
You think any of the mega billionaire far left donors to Obama paid more taxes? Yeah, I thought not..........
Get a grip...or a straight jacket
Romney knows that if he released tax returns they would be mined for more ammo against him no matter how straightforward they were. As many are saying, he needs to start hitting Obama with a non-stop barrage from the big guns. He has a huge stockpile of large, armor-piercing shells accumulated during Bam’s disastrous 4-1/2 years. No reason to conserve them now. Too many battle analogies? This is war isn’t it?
” And what business is it of yours (theirs) anyway??”
Amen, brother. It isn’t and the Zero campaign has gall beyond belief to say $hit about it. We know absolutely nothing about this fraud president, NOTHING!
Make him a deal. One additional year of tax returns for each of his “secret” documents he turns over. Never happen.
Well if the buffoon paul is for it then it must be wrong
