THIBODAUX – Maybe it was the weight of things in his pants that caused them to sag enough to get a policeman’s attention.
A 16-year-old was walking in the middle of the road with his pants drooping below his underwear when an officer approached him.
Police said the officer several times told the teen to take his hands out of his sagging pants and hold his hands up. He refused, so the officer did a pat down, allegedly finding a handgun and five bags of marijuana.
That’s when the boy tried to run but pants falling down his legs made that a losing proposition and he was apprehended.
The teen was charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Obstruction of a Public Roadway, Illegal Carrying of a Concealed Firearm, Illegal Carrying of a Firearm in the Presence of Illegal Narcotics, Resisting an Officer, and Curfew Violation.
He was also charged with violating the city’s saggy pants prohibition.

What, the cop didn’t shoot him on the spot for not taking his hands out of his pockets?
Wish they had that law everywhere! Suspenders are the answer! Make them wear suspenders. When I was a kid, my mother made me wear suspenders until my new pants fit. We were poor and her budget stretched more by buying oversize clothing for us kids.
Had a friend in law enforcement who could tell when a suspect was fixing to run.
When a suspect started to reach for their drawers, the LEO would commence to chase the suspect “before” they started to sprint!
That extra second or two could make the difference.

Probably an illegal search and seizure.
Kid may get a lawyer and sue for $$$$.
Proving that some people are not quite as stupid as they may look.
Saggy pants has cost more than one punk his life in this situation. In Detroit a cop was holding a suspect at gunpoint when he turned and ran away, his pants dropped and when he reached for them quick and pulled his hand away the cop mistook the motion as him having a weapon and killed him.
Hard to fault a cop for doing it either.
How you figure that?
