Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted said on Thursday that a federal lawsuit filed against him by President Obamas campaign and other Democrats is misguided and will lead to confusion and the undermining of confidence in the election system.
The Obama campaign and the Ohio and national Democratic parties on Tuesday filed the lawsuit against Husted and Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, both Republicans, seeking to reinstate in-person absentee voting for all Ohioans during the three days preceding Novembers voting contest. Military voters and their families are exempt from the restriction, a distinction the campaign argues is unconstitutional.
This lawsuit seeks to treat all Ohio citizens equally under the law, said Bob Bauer, an attorney for Obama for America.
Husted would not comment on the political calculus behind the lawsuit but asked rhetorically: Why isnt it a problem in the 49 other states where they do the same kinds of things?
Husted said there is no undue burden on Ohioans casting ballots and said the change, which was enacted last year, was made to synchronize the voting windows across all Ohio counties. Previously in Ohio, the local elections boards decided which days to stay open prior to a voting contest.
Any Ohioan can start voting in person starting 35 days out before the election and for the first time ever we are sending every registered voter in the state an absentee ballot application in early September, Husted told Reuters. We are doing a lot of things to expand opportunities [to vote] while at the same time protecting the integrity of the system. You need those last few days for the board of elections to synchronize the voting file so you know people only voted once.
A senior Democratic official in Ohio called the ban voter suppression but rejected the idea

Sounds like Ohio is on the right track. Stop voter fraud and you stop the democrats in their tracks
Confusion and chaos are the leftist’s allies. Obama is setting up another election crisis.
Has there ever been another President who has sued so many states?
Is it legal for a President to sue States? Isn’t that Congress’ jurisdiction? WTF and WhyTF is anyone putting up with this treasonous sh!thead?
undermining of confidence in the election systemMugabe and Chavez would approve.
I know this is going to sound very bizarre, but I am beginning to think that Obama does not want to win re-election. Look at all he is doing and is saying. It seems to me he wants to get the hell out of D.C. and will do whatever it takes to do so. He is pissing everyone off. . business owners, Catholic Church, anti-war movement, black pro-lifers, black anti-gay forces, and the list goes on and on. I may be way off base, but I think he wants to lose.

That makes me a little nervous.
If he wins it, he is going to win the election.
If he loses it, he loses.
GET REAL, AMERICA. 'DIVISION' IS CAUSED BY AN INSURGENT ENEMY, FOREIGN TO OUR CONSTITUTION!
It’s because Ohio is pivotal for Ubama.
If he wins it, he is going to win the election.

Not necessarily. Romney can lose Ohio and still win. Especially since now it looks like Romney could carry FL, MI, WI, IA, NH, IN, IA, and they’re saying PA is a possibility for Romney.
I disagree with you 100%. It seems to me he is blinded by narcissism and his inner circle are equally blinded by the aura. But that aside, this push to sue the states is an effort to sow chaos in battleground states if and when things don’t come up roses on election day. Lots of practice runs of these techniques have already played out in previous elections. The 11th hour “ballot flood” in Bridgeport, Ct to name one example.
With all the Eric Holder's people in Toledo and Cincinnati and Cleveland, it is a bellwether for how well the Democrat election fraud machine is working.
Almost every single black precinct in those cities turns in more ballots than it has registered voters.
I think that's exactly what they want.
If the election turns out to be as close as it looks right now they may figure they can "Al Franken" Obama into a second term if they can create enough FUD to get the courts involved.
“...for the first time ever we are sending every registered voter in the state an absentee ballot application in early September”
What the Hell?? What an invitation to outright voter fraud.
How many states are being sued by the Federal Government?
Now that I think of it how many lawsuits has Obama filed against states, cities counties?
Including the DOJ, EPA etc ...... (the usual suspects)
A list of states, cities and counties being sued by Obama would be nice.
Besides a good ad put together for TV would get Americans thinking, wow we are paying them and they are suing us?
A list of businesses being sued would be nice. I think that would be in the thousands of lawsuits from the EPA alone.
(I think the EPA gives money to green companies to file lawsuits against them and turn around and file lawsuits against companies, contractors etc,not sure how this works out)
The GOP should run TV commercials in “swing states: listing the lawsuits the Federal Government filed against the state, businesses etc... and pointing out its slowing down growth and using the state tax payer money to file lawsuits against them!
Just a thought.
I understand. But, you said if Obama wins Ohio, he wins the Election. I was just pointing out that that is not necessarily so. Obama can win Ohio and Romney can still win the Election.
That's the entire reason for the lawsuit.
