Zogby: Obama outperforming Romney among “upscale voters”
Hotair ^ | 07/21/2012 | BY ROB BLUEY

Voters with college degrees and international travelers are breaking for President Obama over Mitt Romney in the presidential race, according to a polling analysis from John Zogby. Romney, meanwhile, comes out ahead among top earners and the middle class.

The trend should be worrisome for Obama, Zogby wrote:

The picture that emerges from these select numbers is one of dissatisfaction among voters with the highest income, but an incumbent who might be able to cut his losses among more upscale voters by appealing to those with college degrees and those who have a more international perspective. At the same time, the president is waging an all-out war against Romney to win over middle income voters who, at the moment, are really enamored with Obama. An incumbent presently winning only 36% of voters in the $50,000 to $75,000 income range spells potential trouble for him.

Here’s how the numbers break down from Zogby's analysis of a total sample 5,300 likely voters:

Hot Air also covered Zogby’s previous analysis, which examined the “marriage gap” — the sharp political divide between married and single voters.

I’m pretty sure if Zogby really wants to find a group that supports Ubama he can just poll that vast group of Chevy Volt Owners. Now if the battery will last long enough for them to get to the polls is another matter.

Zogby is hitting the ‘secret sauce’ again.

This smacks of a push poll trying to push the meme that smart, educated people prefer Obama.

“Colleges raise tuition every year. Some have multibillion dollar endowments. Collage aid leads to higher tuition for the same (or worse) schooling.”

Indeed which is precisely why these Collages and NOT the government needs to be financing the loans & thus baring most of the risk for their product.

If their product is good then their students will go on to make lots of money over the next 10-20 years thus paying back the loan with interest. If however their product is bad, then the school with justifiably go under along with the suffering student they poorly served.

I am also getting a disconnect with these numbers

The writer/editor through their headline is defining upscale as a college grad or international traveler.

With Mitts ahead of those earning $100,000 plus. Albeit only 3 points, I guess I need to learn the new definition of "upscale."

College degree, living abroad and I travel internationally extensively (work related) . . . I can assure anybody, I ain't "upscale."

“Well educated does not necessarily mean wise.”

This is true.

However, having said that, I don’t trust Zogby either. Zogby lost their credibility a long time ago. There’s a reason why they are not the respected pollster they used to be.

Knowledge is proud because he knows so much.
Wisdom is humble because he knows so little.

No link to any information about the sample.

I guess it is just assumed to be even.

Also, was there an option of neither or I am not voting?

People like political indoctrination; they don’t like to think for themselves. They like it when people they “trust” does their thinking for them. They are too uninformed to change.

Suffering pupils aren’t smart enough to figure out that they have been had by these colleges.

“Upscale”? Yeh! What’s up with that? How can BO have the upscale vote yet not have the > 100K income vote?

Upscale = tastes greater than income vote

Well its hard to blame people with lives and little interest in politics from falling into that pattern.

It is basically a full time hobby to know all that we know. Most people won’t take that kind of time so they have no choice but to trust.

I guess these days a college degree has about as much meaning as a cash register receipt.

It sounds like "the rich" are breaking for Barry. Whodda thunk he'd ever get the 1% voting block.

Perhaps they think The One will save them from the violence from the 99% - additional taxes would be a small price to pay.
