Thoughts On The Aurora Theater Massacre
sunnyroseman.com ^ | Sunny Roseman

I’ve been asked to comment on the theater massacre. I think there is just one cause; a crazy shooter with God only knows what, going through his brain. Unfortunately discussions will go far and wide from this obvious fact and range from gun control to societal issues. So here are my thoughts. I think societal issues led up to this massacre. I’m not going to spend much time on gun control other than to say I am firmly for our second amendment, no exceptions. I blame our obsession with political correctness, the destruction of the family and the lack of God in our society. I read a child’s quote where he asked God, why do you allow all this violence in our schools? God replied, I’m not allowed in schools. Just substitute the public square for schools and you have America in 2012. A godless society is a society without a moral compass. And then there’s political correctness; you can’t speak the truth…plain and simple. You want some truth? Natalie Holloway would be alive today if her friends were responsible and didn’t allow her to go off with a stranger. The massacre at Columbine probably wouldn’t have happened if Harris and Klebold’s parents had done their job and gone down into their rooms to see what they were doing. You want more truth? How about we’re going to find out real soon how mentally disturbed the theater shooter was. His mother reportedly said “that sounds like my son” when contacted by police. Could this be another case of parenting decisions gone wrong? Time will only tell how the role of kids’ rights and medical records privacy rules might have changed the outcome.

An adult cannot be controlled by a parent.
MANY families know about their children’s mental illness and can do NOTHING legally about it.

Just a thought.

the left -- the regime in power -- has used violent rhetoric from the start. the movie clearly paints the regime for what it is.

Now then, did the kid, who basically came of age in this environment, take it too seriously? Or did he just come unglued?

Yes! So true. I'd love to see a list of all of the quotes (just within the last 3 years) so they can be posted on Social Media with a hashtag or title "ConnectingTheDots"

Sounds like an Andy Kaufman except Andy Kaufman used comedy to deal with it (though it was hard to tell the difference between what was real and what was not)

An adult cannot be controlled by a parent.

But sometimes they decide to send the kid to college and hope it all works out. That's what happened with the Virginia Tech gunman. It didn't work out.

I watched the movie and was struck by two things. First was the name of one of the characters ...bain. the other was Bain’s message. It was all about how the rich stole from the poor. Total anarchy began in the movie and it gives one an idea what would happen if the Democrats implement their policies.

I sat next to the entry way away from the emergency doors

Ya never know if a copycat is out there even in Minot

There’s no Ha ha ha about this.

I was the Office Manager for Psychiatrists. You have no clue what it is like to know that your adult child is out there, with a clear indication that he/she will hurt his/herself or others and have NO legal recourse.

They have the same rights as any other adult. If they don’t want to be treated or housed, they aren’t. Parents know and they can’t do a thing.

It’s not a joke. We don’t have asylums for these people. They are put into group homes, if you can find one that has room, and then they just walk away. Blaming the parents is misguided.

How do you stop an adult?
This shooter got fed dollars to go to school.

How does mom stop him?

I heard Rush talking about this last week. It was the day after Sheriff Joe’s News Conference. I figured he was trying to purposely anger the birthers by talking about the “Batman conspiracy theory” and totally ignoring the birth certificate findings.

In the movie, which side did the Joker represent?

Rush was not on the day after the massacre to talk about it.

medical records privacy rules might have changed the outcome.

If you are saying that more access to medical records by (parents of adult children, gov't) might have helped, I beg to differ. The Patriot act allows DHS to access any medical record it wants and the HC provider cannot tell you that they gave you up to the feds. The ability to "perhaps" ferret out one nut at the expense of even more of our freedoms is to high a price to pay.

My two cents is that this is a product of something we will never understand. The Chevy Chase bank murders of 1989 were done by a former employee of mine. Some girl turned him down, he went home and got a handgun and killed three people. One of my other former employees called me from under his desk while it was going down.

The young man who committed the murders was never a problem. But let me tell you, everyone who had anything to do with him in any way did some serious thinking about our rolls after TSHTF. Bottom line, we all drew blanks. This was the path that the young man was following. We had no control over it at all.

as I recall the verdict was that without comedy, he would have been pushing the grocery cart down the street talking to himself.

>> I blame our obsession with political correctness, the destruction of the family and the lack of God in our society.

I blame the shooter. Period.
What ever happened to personal responsibility?

Life is tough for all of us. We are not entitled to a carefree and happy life.
How many folks who have lost their jobs, their homes or their businesses do you see mowing people down?
This kid had a life easier than most.

Until we stop trying to make excuses for why someone blew a gasket and went postal, and place the blame squarely on them, we will never get anywhere.

Just my opinion.
