Bucking her tea party predilection yet again this cycle, Sarah Palin on Monday endorsed Republican Rep. Jeff Flake over Wil Cardon in the Arizona Senate primary. …

Palin earlier this year rankled tea partiers when she chose to back sitting Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch over tea party challenger former state Sen. Dan Liljenquist. Hatch easily bested Liljenquist in the June 26 primary. …

Jeff Flake has a 96.73 lifetime rating from ACU; 98 from Hertiage foundation. Flake is no RINO.

He also voted against military patrolling the border with Mexico. He also sided with Democrats on a few healthcare issues IINM.

The ACU rating doesn’t always tell the whole story. Flake isn’t reliable on the illegals/border issue.

Actually he was honored by ACU for having a perfect score. I am not sure what you talking about here is the scorecard and the votes.

I saw that here. NORML rated him a +20. He also doesn’t want OPEC criminalized; we should have smashed that Nazi cartel in the 70s. He likes the idea of solar energy programs on federal lands.

Unless our military is going to patrol the border on Mexican territory, I think it would be illegal.

Don’t like Flake, but thevother guy has no shot of winning a safe seat. Sarah is right; hold what you have to, pick up OH, WI, VA, FL, NE, ND, WY.

Flake has been good on most fiscal issues, but is about as bad as McShame on border issues. I don’t trust him.

It would be illegal as per the constitution, but to some so called conservatives, the constitution can be ignored (a la Obama) to serve their view point at any given time.

Looks like Sarah made a good call—keep what you can and look to the Big Picture.

Add to that, which may seem minor to some, but he lied about his promise on keeping a term limits pledge as well.

It seems that she also studies the possibility of the candidate winning. I believe that if she thinks the Tea Party candidate will win then she certainly is going to endorse that person but if they they don’t have a chance, she won’t.

Given that the border has a severe impact on fiscal issues, that would tend to negate any alleged positive points on it.

I haven’t endorsed “the other guy”, but to say Will Cardon has no shot is ludicrous. Cardon has $7.1 million in his campaign coffers (Flake has only $4.9 million). Dubya’s ex-Surgeon General, whom the Democrats recruited, Carmona, is barely in it at all, and has a paltry $1.4 million (which is the kind of money needed to run a competitive House race, not a Senate one). Cardon wouldn’t have much trouble in a general election with the money advantage alone.

If interested, Bill O’Reilly poll:
Who do you favor as Mitt Romney’s running mate?
Condoleezza Rice
Sen. Marco Rubio
Rep. Paul Ryan
Sarah Palin

When you have BOTH sitting AZ senator and Palin endorse Flake, I don’t think the other guy has much of a chance. I’m a native Arizonian, still have family there, and Flake is known. Cardon isn’t.

Businessmen can buy recognition. Look at Wisconsin with Ron Johnson.

Jeff Flake is the politician who ridiculed people recently for wanting to investigate Obama’s birth certificate in Arizona. He mocked them after he said firstly he would preserve and defend the Constitution. Now, back on February 27, 2011 of last year Flake said that birthers should “accept the reality” and acknowledge the fact that President Obama was born in the US.

“Barack Obama is a citizen of the country,” Flake said in an interview with CNN on Thursday.

When asked about a recent poll that showed a majority of Republican primary voters believe President Obama was born outside the country, Flake said he didn’t trust the results.

“Well, I have a hard time believing that poll,” Flake said. “I think that most people understand and accept the reality. The reality is that, yes, he was born in the United States.”
