Judge Legg has issued a permanent injunction against enforcement of the requirement of needing a good and substantial reason to obtain a permit to carry in Maryland. The injunction is to be effective in 14 days. Maryland Shall Issue talks about what this will mean for Maryland residents. In theory, this should render Maryland a shall-issue state, but in practice there are probably ways the Maryland State Police can stall. This will be appealed to the Forth Circuit Court of Appeals, and they could side with the state. Nonetheless, this is excellent, excellent news. Kudos to the Second Amendment Foundation and Alan Gura, who brought this case. This is a substantive win for our side.
WOW!
This is big!
(The enemedia will not breathe a peep about this, though)
BTTT
... for your consideration.
Isn't Maryland like NY, in that one needs a "permit" just to be able to "keep" their arms? In most counties in NY, the permit to own and the permit to carry are one and the same, unless a judge puts restrictions on it.
That's not good for Virginia or Delaware or West Virginia.
Much better for us to keep those people disarmed.
“... there are probably ways the Maryland State Police can stall.”
Count on it. MSP isn’t going to just start granting citizens their actual right to carry. IMHO, they will reduce the manpower in that section and slow it down. IMHO.
Our restrictive and overbearing government has unleashed the beast and it will continue to grow.
We will NOT give up our liberties without a fight!
,,,,, way to early for me to get excited ,,, only criminals can get away with carriing a gun in the freak state . The Dems will find a way to keep honest law abiding people living in fear of unprovoked attacks . I will not go into the city any more ,,, the streets are oozing with feral youths looking for trouble .
It is about time this happens in MD. So many other battles remain to be fought before MD is equal to most other states.
A theater full of armed Batman fans would have put James Holmes out of commission in short order and would probably have rendered years of incarceration and multi-millions spent in trials and appeals entirely moot.
Castle doctrine and now this?
WHAT?!?

Little by little, we fight back.
Once people have concealed carry they never want it to be taken away. I hope this ends with Marylanders having Shall-Issue.
They are already stalling. The permit application is blocked on the MSP website. I tried to get one today.
Believe me, I don’t take any satisfaction knowing that MSP isn’t going to simply allow law abiding folks get a CCW.By hook or crook, they will drag their feet. It is sickening!
FYI the form is back online
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
