On Wednesday, Kansas Republican Sen. Jerry Moran called on Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to explain why the agency’s employee newsletter encouraged them to not eat meat and participate in the “Meatless Monday” initiative for the environment.
“One simple way to reduce your environmental impact while dining at our cafeterias is to participate in the ‘Meatless Monday’ initiative http://www.meatlessmonday.com/,” The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) July 23, 2012 “Greening Headquarters Update” read. “This international effort, as the name implies, encourages people not to eat meat on Mondays. Meatless Monday is an initiative of The Monday Campaign Inc. in association with the John Hopkins School of Public Health.”

The Articles of Faith outline 13 basic points of belief of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The Prophet Joseph Smith first wrote them in a letter to John Wentworth, a newspaper editor,

They were subsequently published in Church periodicals.

- We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
- We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.
- We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
- We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

It is not Biblical, but from Section 89 the “D&C” aka the “Doctrine and Covenants”, which is one of the four “scriptures” of Mormonism.
It is a little before the part where God calls out Joseph Smith’s wife BY NAME and says she should accept polygamy (D&C 132). Joseph Smith happened to be the one that received that convenient little gem of a revelation from God, but never mind that.
I always think of fish as a meat..........
Not eating meat actually increases your environmental impact, since it requires a larger area of land to produce enough food for a person with vegetation alone than it does with a mixture of vegetation and animals.
I never understood the Vegetarians making fake meat. If it’s so disgusting to them, why do they want to eat the imitation? It’s like lesbians dating women who dress like men. Just go get the real thing if that is what you want.
I guess they want the taste without the guilt of zapping the critters or the supposed ill health effects of eating their meat. If veggies want their imitation meat, why should I interfere with that any more than I should try to feed hot dogs to rabbits? But they should not be able to dictate everybody else’s diets.
I would say that the use of fake meat is so vegetarians can create meals that appeal to non vegetarians and still maintain their diet goals. I know vegans ( the kind that want you to be vegan for your health not cause you're a murderer of animals ) make all all kinds of food replacement like cheese from almonds and milk from soy.
