Billy Graham: Abortion Has Taken America’s Morality Downhill
Life News ^ | 7/26/12 | Steven Ertelt

Evangelist Bill Graham says abortion has taken America’s morality downhill — so frat that the nation is on par with cities in the Old testament that God destroyed because of their lack of sexual morality.

Graham’s comments com in the form of a new open letter titled “My Heart Aches for America” that addresses concerns about moral issues. In a new prayer letter Billy Graham writes: “My heart aches for America and its deceived people. The wonderful news is that our Lord is a God of mercy, and He responds to repentance.”

The noted Christian writes:

Some years ago, my wife, Ruth, was reading the draft of a book I was writing. When she finished a section describing the terrible downward spiral of our nation’s moral standards and the idolatry of worshiping false gods such as technology and sex, she startled me by exclaiming, “If God doesn’t punish America, He’ll have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.”

She was probably thinking of a passage in Ezekiel where God tells why He brought those cities to ruin. “Now this was the sin of … Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen” (Ezekiel 16:49–50, NIV).

I wonder what Ruth would think of America if she were alive today. In the years since she made that remark, millions of babies have been aborted and our nation seems largely unconcerned. Self-centered indulgence, pride, and a lack of shame over sin are now emblems of the American lifestyle.

Yet the farther we get from God, the more the world spirals out of control.

My heart aches for America and its deceived people. The wonderful news is that our Lord is a God of mercy, and He responds to repentance. In Jonah’s day, Nineveh was the lone world superpower—wealthy, unconcerned, and self-centered. When the Prophet Jonah finally traveled to Nineveh and proclaimed God’s warning, people heard and repented.

I believe the same thing can happen once again, this time in our nation. It’s something I long for, and my son Franklin recently shared a vision for perhaps the greatest challenge in the history of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association—to launch an outreach called My Hope with Billy Graham that would bring the Gospel into neighborhoods and homes in every corner of America next year.

Reverend Graham is exactly right. Except for eight great years under President Reagan, America has been on a downhill slope since 1973.

Well, Billy, y’ever discuss this with yer “just like family” friend Bill Clinton? I’ll bet that’s one member of the Graham clan that doesn’t mind a mistake baby or two getting cut into chunks and flushed down the drain.

arrogant, overfed and unconcerned

that was the US in 2008, before the crash. And in 2001, before the attack.

Really? I know that George and Barbara Bush are close to Bill Clinton, but I didn’t realize that Billy Graham was.

Yes what you say is true. We need to find a solution and then make it happen. THAT is a major problem with the gop... the creatures of the gop/e will not even admit to our problems in real terms... it is like they think that we can sustain this BS forever. I pray. I just do not know which Earthly way to turn or where to go. We have no party... no representation, no leadership and no voice in the process. America does not even resemble the country where I grew up. It is as alien to me as Venezuela.

And so has Rev. Graham’s ridiculous and uncalled for endorsement of Hillary for president a couple years ago. I would love to hear this man outright condemn sodomy and abortion loudly . . . some day.

The Graham clan are part of God's Family, they know their own. Talking to clinton doesn't make clinton one.

You think of clinton when there are two guys running to be president and BOTH are pro abortion and same sex marriage. Doesn't look good for America when a majority bow to evil. God's OWN will NEVER bow to evil.

Any person, of either gender, who has used any form of birth control is guilty of abortion in their mind. And if the same rules apply as “lust for a woman”, then who is not guilty? You might fool other men but you are not going to fool God.

Billy Graham embarrassed himself in 1998-1999 when he said on a network news cast that his friend B. Clinton couldn’t “help himself” around other women. But Graham has been right again in recent years.

Brother Billy has NEVER been a friend to the pro-life movement.

Concerning the issue of abortion, on ABC’s “Good Morning America” (GMA) (9/5/91), Graham, when asked the Christian position on abortion, said: “... there is a Christian position, I think. But I’m not prepared to say what it is.”

And, again two weeks later on GMA (9/19/91), Graham said: “But there are occasions when abortion is the only alternative” (although he didn’t say when it is okay to snuff out innocent, unborn human life). (Reported in the 2/22/93, Christian News.)

In the 1997 edition of The Billy Graham Christian Worker’s Handbook his position is that, “We should accept abortion in these cases: rape or incest...”

First time in history no Christian is on the ballot for US president. Kyrie Eleison. This country is under God’s judgement.

Thanks for posting this. I never realized Graham was such an apostate on prolife issues.
