Mayor Thomas M. Menino withdrew his threat to ban Chick-fil-A from Boston over the chicken chain presidents anti-gay marriage stance but the Hub Democrat remained in the crosshairs of national conservatives, including former GOP presidential hopefuls Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee.
When I heard of the vicious hate speech and economic bullying being directed toward the (CEO Dan) Cathy family and their Chick-fil-A company, it was stunning. In the name of tolerance a group was exercising extreme intolerance and trying to censor a citizen by threatening their business, Huckabee told the Herald last night...

Well put. I think the militant homos have really overplayed their hand this time and that is a good thing. Homosexuality needs to be reclassified as a mental illness that it is.
I'm done with being tolerant, all it has gotten us is more aberration & perversion. We need to go way beyond outlawing gay marriage, we need to undo "civil unions" and "domestic partnerships" that allow these mentally ill perverts to adopt children.
“No. People vote on stuff like that with their wallets.”
Yes, of course. But I said a **thought exercise**.
So, how would the left react,,,if a town in Texas,,, announced that Target or Pennys would be denied permits,,,, because they were pro gay? They would fall into shrieking hysterics. Yet, they never give a passing thought to their own announcing that CFA is not allowed in Chicago or Boston.
I don’t have any Chik-Fil-A’s near me, either. But when we head south we always stop at at least one. Where KFC is more the bucket of chicken, Chik-Fil-A is more chicken sandwiches, that are really delicious even when grilled not fried, they offer fruit, sides and salads that no other fast food place offers and really good desserts to wash that salad down with! ;) Every restaurant we’ve visited down the East Coast has been clean, friendly, and excellent tasting food for the fast food genre. My daughter LOVES softball and obviously you can start the season in the south earlier then up north. A coach brought his entire softball team to the Chik-Fil-A we were at and my daughter struck up a conversation, wishing she could be playing when we had four feet of snow at home. The girls on the team said after every big win the bus had to stop at Chik-fill-A! I don’t know if it’s the obvious religious beliefs of the owner (closed on Sunday) but we normally don’t strike up conversations when on the road but always seem to with some very nice people at Chik-Fil-A.
I know exactly what you mean. That’s why they’re in the minority. Thank God.
And with people like you exposing them... they just may stay the minority. :)
I have enjoyed the food at that very location (Figueroa off of Wilshire in Los Angeles, as I recall).
Bloomberg hates the 32 oz drink because he can't hold the cup without the bottom hitting the ground.
No, lets DO start that **** again. It is our God given right to do and they will not shut us up or shout us down.
Always remember, we surround them, not the other way around.
Well lets say that KFC went off the bucket as their prime when Chick-fil-A began to blossom.
With the latest back-stab by "Republican" Chief Justice John Roberts, I believe the GOP base, ie Tea Party-types, will give the GOP, including Romney, no slack. We've been betrayed too many times.
The GOP Establishment has to be made to realize that this election is their last chance. They will be given power by the voters. If they don't follow through, they will be replaced. No slack, no how. It's follow through or they'll be carried from the field.
Amen!
The night before Mumbles Menino backed away from his original comments, I contacted the mayor's office via e-mail and sent them a very honest, but direct, message ... telling him that I will never be coming back to visit Boston again until there is a Chick-Fil-A restaurant waiting for me when I get there. I also pointed out that companies like Chick-Fil-A have a vested interest in promoting traditional marriage and family values because it helps to ensure that they have a solid customer base for a long time.
I'm sure plenty of other people sent similar messages to Mumbles, and I'm sure this is exactly why that jack@ss has backed down. It's not even about Chick-Fil-A, folks ... it's about an entire commercial real estate sector that's dealing with a market in distress. A commercial property owner who suddenly finds himself in a municipality where a public official is willing to go out and exclude businesses for purely political reasons is going to move mountains to put that public official back in his place.
On to Chicago now ...
On one hand we have Dan Cathy to standing for Christian values; on the other we have the scumbags that inflicted a murderer on us giving him a lifetime Senate seat. Any questions?
So, if Romney is not going to win the culture war, and Obama escalates the culture war, then who, exactly, would you choose to do it, given the choices we are given.
Obama is pulling us directly into socialism/Marxism, with an entire media and sub-culture solidly behind him. He hates America and all she stands for.
Without the race card to play, the bulk of the control of the race card will be nullified to a degree that the stoke of the pen being the law of the land will be much less effective. The media will once again ride herd on the president and not turn a blind eye to lawless acts from the White House.
I’m not a big Romney proponent, but my disdain for Obama is so powerful that I cannot - in good conscience - support Obama by vote, or abstention from voting.
Supporting Romney will be like watching your mother-in-law go over a cliff in your new Mercedes...helping Obama will put you in the Mercedes with her.
Blind ideology will give us four more years of Obama, in which I think he’ll try to become president for life, I.e. dictator...look what he’s already done to the Constitution with lawless executive orders.
I don’t think that Romney - even being a RINO - has the audacity of Obama, nor the fanatical drive to be king of the world. Romney will back down to an irate populace.
It comes down to the lesser of two evils.
I’m a big Sarah Palin fan, but I don’t think she will run...so I have to live in “realville” and vote for the only American running.
After four years of Obama, I think the American people are awake, and will prevail. They see nothing coming from Obama but fall of America and the demise of personal liberty.
I know you will attack this post, but if Obama wins, in four more years there might not even be a forum - or even a free Internet - on which to share our opinions.
Romney was not my choice during the primaries and I did a lot of graphics lampooning him, but if the U.S.S. Romney is the only boat off Obama island, I’m taking it.
They are very good! The food is healthier than KFC I think. Not at all greasy.
I’ll be stopping by a Chick-fil-A today!
There’s also a poll at that site that I would suggest FReeping, but it looks like it’s already been FReeped. was the mayor right to speak out against Chick Fil A? A resounding NO.
Was is it appropriate for Mayor Menino to express his views on Chick-fil-A?
10% - Yes, other pols should be as outspoken
78% - No, he exceeded his authority
12% - Dont care, just more hot air
Total Votes: 2,110
:)
Romney did that in Massachusetts.
BTW where is Romney on the culture war anyway? What is his stand on the unconstitutional actions by Boston and Chicago to punish Chick-fil-A for thought crimes?
I'm betting Obama comes out with a statement condemning these cities before Romney. The ACLU has condemned Chicago and Boston. Where is Romney?
Noticeably absent. That's where.
Im not a big Romney proponent, but my disdain for Obama is so powerful that I cannot - in good conscience - support Obama by vote, or abstention from voting.
I'm voting alright. I'm voting for the conservative.
If Obama is reelected then Congress will just have to do their constitutional duty and impeach the bastard.
Frankly I expect that Romney will be elected. But not with my vote. Conservatives will have to work doubly hard to keep Romney from dragging the GOP even further to the left. Just remember that things like the EPA and the Americans with Disabilities act and Justice Souter were all brought to us by Republicans pretending at election time to be conservatives.
Got my breakfast there this morning. Always a good experience!
