One of the fundamental principles that guides this editorial board's world view is the last plank in Joseph Pulitzer's Platform, printed at the top of this page, to "never be afraid to attack wrong, whether by predatory plutocracy or predatory poverty."
Nothing says "predatory plutocracy" like a wealthy businessman spending millions of dollars of his personal fortune to try to buy an election.

Of his opponent, Dave Spence, the editorial continues, Mr. Spence, meanwhile, when we pushed for specifics on his policies, told us: "I don't want to go into great detail because at some point somebody will use that against me."
Bill Randles for Missouri Governor!

Not sure any Republican can bring down Jay Nixon. Maybe if Republican voters can be convinced to vote Republican up/down the ballot...
My gosh, how could anyone support someone endorsed by this bunch of communists? No way Akin or Randle get my vote.
If anyone can beat Jay Nixon, it's Bill Randles.
Check out his website (I don't know how to hot-link, but it's www.BillRandles.com ), "white papers" he has written, YouTube videos of speeches/forums, etc where he has spoken. As he says in the editorial, he has thought about policy issues, has positions, and will be ready to lead/govern immediately after his election.
Again, if anyone can defeat Jay Nixon, it is Bill Randles - and 2012 is the year!
At least look at his videos, campaign literature and positions before making a decision.
Then if you vote for someone else, so be it. At least that's YOUR informed vote, and not the proxy vote of someone (online newspaper) with whom you disagree.
Again, no disrespect intended - just sayin'
The editorial writers also say, "The Republican candidates who visited with us know we have fundamentally different views on public policy issues. Yet they took the time to be challenged by us and to challenge us. That's a valuable part of the democratic process."
LOL They always "endorse" in primaries but you can be sure that this Communist Rag will not endorse ANY Republican in November.
St. Louis Post is in the same bed with the Kansas City Red Star and the only “GOP” candidate they would like, would not be one that I’d ever consider conservative - nope they would love a RINO but NO conservative!
I agree: there's no way the St. Louis Post (paper or online) will endorse either candidate in the general election.
The reason I like the editorial - and the "endorsement" - is because it DOES trumpet who the true principled conservatives are in those two races. Todd Akin and Bill Randles are definitely NOT Rinos!
Timmy, please read the article at this link before you reject Akin.
Todd has a degree in Management Engineering and a Masters of Divinity Degree. He homeschooled his six children and is a devout Christian and one of the most conservative members of Congress. The P-D disagrees with him on almost every issue, but dislikes him less than it dislikes the other two candidates. I will not vote for Brunner because of his unfair attack ads against Akin and Steelman.
I truly believe you would agree with most of his positions.
Most conservatives I know are voting Randles but I think it will be difficult to defeat Nixon. I’ve been all over the place when it comes to the Senate race. According to some of the ratings I’ve seen lately Akin is the most conservative Republicam Mo. has in D. C. The 8th District is supposed to be the most conservative district in the state yet Emerson is rated the most liberal Republican. Will be interesting to see how this all plays out.....
He [Dave Spence] has made some campaign gaffes, and questions linger about his tenure on the board of a bank that opted not to repay a federal loan that was part of the Troubled Asset Relief Program. But he understands that Missouri lags behind the rest of the nation in many important measures, including funding for colleges and universities. And he is flexible enough to note that, while he wants to see income taxes reduced over the long term, the state budget cant absorb more losses at the moment.
Spence is challenged by Bill Randles, a Kansas City lawyer who is prone to extreme positions, such as calling for elimination of the state income tax and a move to a statewide school voucher system.
Eliminating the income tax is "extreme?" Like those "extreme" states Texas, Florida, & Tennessee? Statewide school vouchers... wow what a "radical" concept; giving parents more control over their childrens' education. These are CONSERVATIVE positions. The KC Star DID NOT endorse Randles BECAUSE he is a CONSERVATIVE, and elected to endorse Spence because his is a RINO.

The Post-Dispatch endorsement, in contrast, IDENTIFIES Bill as the true conservative candidate:
Mr. Spence told us that he believes that Mr. Randles is a little farther to the right than he is. That may be because, unlike Mr. Spence, Mr. Randles has the courage of his convictions and outlines his clear positions on issues.
[...]
[Randles will] challenge Jay Nixon, the Democratic incumbent, to defend his policies, something with which Mr. Nixon sometimes struggles.
[...]
Mr. Spence, meanwhile, when we pushed for specifics on his policies, told us: "I don't want to go into great detail because at some point somebody will use that against me."
Who do you think that "someone" is? Conservatives, that's who.
