Homophobia and the Left
Odd Onion ^ | Leapfrog

Posted on 08/01/2012 4:57:00 AM PDT by Enosh

Today we hear the word “homophobia” often in the press, and that almost invariably from news outlets operated by politically left-leaning organizations. Why is that?

First, “phobia” means “fear of,” or more specifically, “the irrational fear of.” “Homo” means “the same,” and in this case it denotes sexual preference. So when we hear a talking head on the television dribble the word “homophobia,” he is using it as a derision. He is saying that anyone who disagrees with him suffers from a mental disorder – they have an irrational fear of homosexuality.

Liberals claiming their political opponents are crazy is nothing new, of course. Example: Who could possibly object, they wonder, to murdering an infant moments before birth? Insanity.

However, are they correct? Mostly no.

In the 1980s the word may have been appropriate. When AIDS was first identified, people feared it the way we fear Ebola today. Anyone victimized by the virus may as well have hung “Typhoid Mary” around their necks and shouted “Unclean!” when in the polite company. The fear generated by the epidemic was the fear of mortality so it was by no means irrational, but today we understand that AIDS victims deserve sympathy over shunning.

Still, although anyone may hug a gay person to comfort them as a friend or relative, few are likely to drink from the same cup or use the same toothbrush. How about a blood transfusion? That is not an irrational fear, it is a rational act of self-preservation.

The mental state present today when contemplating homosexuality reverts back to pre-AIDS times. For hetrosexuals the thought of copulation between two people of the same gender brings not fear but revulsion. Normally this applies mostly to two men together because of what it entails. Such revulsion is no more irrational than being disgusted by the thought of eating an unappealing meal.

There is a word for that, “homomisia,” “the disgust of homosexuality.”

We can expect exactly zero talking heads on the news to start using “homomisia” because it carries no overtones of mental instability. Presenting one’s self as disgusting won’t do, better to have the other guy look crazy.

I do not fear Homosexuals, I just do not wish to get too close to men who play with other mens rectums.

It’s just a word meant to elicit a certain response, similar to calling someone a c**ksucker. I just blow cigar smoke in the face of anyone who uses the word “homophobia” on me.

I looked up the word homophobia in the dictionary a couple of years ago and was amazed to find out that, unlike other phobias, the meaning has been broadened beyond just “the fear of”.

I have answered this charge of homophobia before by explaining that I’m not scared, I’m disgusted. That always disrupts their thought process.

Support, driven by fear (of social rejection, etc), could be symptomatic of a “phobia”. Perhaps the homophobia is more on the Democrat side.

The goal is to marginalize as insane the opposition to the homosexual “rights” movement, which itself is simply a front or vehicle for the criminalization of Christian beliefs.

I do NOT fear individual homosexuals.

But I do fear the gay agenda and what gays and their straight enablers continue to do to bring down our country.

So maybe in that sense, HOMOPHOBIA is an appropriate word.

I AM fearful of the gay agenda

Homophobia a made up word used to deflect serious debate.
I do not fear homosexuals.I think they are disgusting and vile. But I fear for our children. I am from Pennsylvania. Ring a bell?
I fear for our society. As it gets dragged further into the pit.
No I don’t fear homosexuals. I just refuse to be spineless and not take a stand for right over wrong.

I don’t care what “phobia” I’m accused of by a multi-culti moron. I don’t want the definition of marriage changed, that is all. If a guy wants to have sex with another guy, or a woman with a woman...as long as all are willing, it’s none of my concern.

I am rather perplexed at the way Mr. Obama is treated by gay people. It’s pretty well known that he is on the Down Low. Certainly all the gay men over 35 that lived in Chi in the late 90’s are well aware of his and Rahm’s hijinks at Man’s Country bath house....But NOBODY wants him to be open about this? Honestly, I’d expect somebody from the rabid homosexual Left to be DEMANDING he be PROUD. I guess it’s just that little secret that the entire country will keep.

It is quite amusing how the msm promotes him as hunky, husband of the decade at every opportunity. Old Mooch is the type of overbearing woman that black guys on the d/l ALWAYS marry. Just anectodal experience....but I’ve seen it over and over.

Read Romans Chapter 1. Anyone that says homosexuality is OK and you are wrong in objecting to it, is not, I repeat not a Christian and we better start calling everybody on it including our pastors.

Because very soon when the reprobates get their way and make marriage legal, they will be coming to your church demanding ceremony's and may even demand all the congregation attend and celebrate. If the pastor refuses and he should, he will loose his church and its 501c3 status. Coming soon to a church near you.

Same here.

Engaging the left on their “squirrel” topic is missing the point.

Stay focused.

The left doesn’t hate Christianity because they support homos.
They support homos because they hate Christianity.
