It was a semi-automatic knife.

Knife control would have prevented this.

This may be significant:
There is a man in Northeast China with the surname "Li", who is a member of the Tea Party.
We're not sure it's the same man, but it probably is, only we don't know for sure, but it could be.

To many spoons, forks and knives in the hands of untrained civilians! These utensils belong on the battlefields not in the hands of everyday people. I propose that a law be passed outlawing all such utensils and mandate the use of plastic sporks only for all nonmilitary personnel!

The Chinese government made a serious mistake in not banning assault knives.

This is obviously the fault of somebody who should have recognized the warning signs and done something about it.

However, authorities stress that murder, which carries the death penalty, remains far less common than in most Western countries. of course it's lower, folks fear the state more
yet the state sponsored mass murder has been rather high through the years there
Cultural Revolution
Great Leap Forward
Population Control by the state
Citizens need not murder in Communist China, the state will do it for you

“Experts say the increase in assaults shows that China is paying the price for focusing on more than 30 years of economic growth while ignoring problems linked to rapid social change.
Studies have described a rise in the prevalence of mental disorders in China, some of them linked to stress as the pace of life becomes faster and socialist support systems wither.”
Back to the commune comrad. So many lives have been lost under crony capitalism. Back to pure capitalism which was so much kinder and more inclusive. Forward America into the collective. China shows the error of even small amounts of liberty.
Even the murder of nine people in a family dispute is politicized.

Knives are hateful things! There is no place for them in a civilized society. BAN KNIVES!These innocent people were killed because of the easy availability of KNIVES!

This was obviously a deadly military type assault knife. Civilians have no reason to own these types of knives. Soldiers of the murderous Chinese government that have killed more of their own people that civilians ever dreamed of should be the only ones with access to these types of assault knives.

I am sure a number of factors caused this man to lose his marbles. However, I suppose the fact that Chinese parents selectively abort women most of the time could also have contributed to this crime. I don’t know the exact male/female ratio in China for marriageable people, but I know that there are far too many men chasing and far too few women. To this guy, losing his girlfriend, most have seemed like he was being doomed to live a life of certain celibacy.
One can only imagine the aggressive behavior such an imbalance of the sexes could eventually cause.

Violent crime has been on the rise in China in recent decades as the nation's economy has boomed and the gap between rich and poor has expanded at an alarming rate. Correlation = causation??
Yep - watching everyone else get rich always makes me want to stab someone!!
sheesh...
