Cruz: Tea party ‘overwhelmingly’ behind Romney
The Washington Times ^ | August 5, 2012 | Sean Lengell

Ted Cruz, who rode a tea party wave to win the Texas Republican Senate nomination last week, said Sunday the movement will “overwhelmingly” support Mitt Romney in the November presidential election.

Mr. Cruz said tea party activists will rally in defense of the presumptive Republican presidential nominee because they’re “energized” to defeat President Obama.

“I have spoken with literally thousands and thousands of tea party activists, and I have yet to met a single tea party leader that is not going to vote for Mitt Romney and work hard for him,” Mr. Cruz said on Fox News Sunday.

“Our country is in crisis, and we’ve got to stop this Obama agenda if we’re going to preserve opportunity for our kids and grandkids.”(continued)

Thanks for judging me, but I didn’t say I would be calling anyone to account. I trust that the Lord will do the accounting just fine, he knows where the intentions of my heart lay.

I think Cruz is correct.

But, many won’t be voting for Romney because they like him, or because they believe that he’ll work to reverse much, if anything, that’s in place. I think the hope is that it’ll at least buy some time to get more conservatives elected come ‘14 and beyond.

Also, now is probably the time to be looking for a future presidential candidate for conservatives to support so that primary votes don’t get so split and we end up with another severely conservative progressive Republican at the top of the ticket.

Then what are you doing on America's premier conservative website? Or did you mistakenly assume that this was a Republican site?

So Jim is irrational. Nice.

Trying, but not succeeding, in using some reason to change irrational ideas.Trying to argue with the true believers, the purists, the romney = obama fanatics at FR, is exactly the same as arguing with the envirowhackos, the giblets, the marxists, you are all engulfed by your irrationality.

You cannot equate romneys record with obamas record. NO WAY.

I honestly don’t understand how Romney’s and Obama’s records can’t be equated when their historical positions on so many issues are similar.

Realistically, I don’t expect Romney to be down-right hostile to job creators, the energy sector or to our allies but I fully expect him to be hostile toward conservatives on issues like amnesty, the full repeal of Obamacare and other very important issues.

I’m resigned to the fact that Obama needs to go and that Romney is at the top of our ticket. I do not like it even a little bit. But it’s what we have for now, and if we’re to have anything at all for later, Obama must be a one-term president.

Clinton was impeached but not convicted.

Huge difference.

And since Baraq is black (well sort of) there’s ZERO chance he would be impeached by a Republican congress.

I try to talk about the $20 trillion in debt over the next 4 years if Obama gets back in. It all falls on deaf ears just like the 3 monkeys.

Maybe the 3 monkeys know more than you. And your concern is not their's as they serve a different Master.

"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money." Matt 6:24

They just couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Newt though. well, I just can’t bring myself to vote for Romney.

Me neither. Some are too blind they can't see evil when it stares them in the face - 'anyone' is good enough in their eyes, just not Newt. Now what do they get in return? Bowing to evil and calling everyone else to do the same. LOL! They took mitt's bait and swallowed it before they knew what hit them.

Let them go their way - they are lost and with no values to stand on. Mitt has none, so now they are like the person they voted for. Should be one happy family. Their stamp of approval is on same sex marriage and baby killing - they can't un stamp it.

See how evil works, they were so self righteous about Newt's marriage and then end up voting for same sex marriage candidate. Sodom and Gomorrah was burnt down for less - no one was so depraved as Mitt to initiate same sex marriage at the time. And God took HIS own out to safety before He destroyed it. Shows how God protects HIS own in the midst of calamity and filth. It's easy to not be fearful when you serve HIM - they, obviously, serve another.

They are behind Romney because he’s not Obama.

Some may not be so quick to agree with that statement.

.... Sarah Palin NOW has a perfect record of 5/5 for endorsing winners of early Senate races. Where was Mitt while Sarah was delivering the goods? Myth didn’t help any of them. ....

And why would he? Because they were Tea Party candidates and not of the country clubbing (go along to get along) Republican party out of Washington of which he is a gold plated member of.

LOL!! You are clinging to him for fear of Barry!

It's curious, and not all convincing, you find this serious matter so amusing. It is unquestionably true that I fear Obama will march ruthlessly forward in lawlessly and fundamentally transforming America in large part by seizing my hard earned assets in various social justice schemes to distribute to others who do not oppose him and his objectives; specifically to those in his twisted Marxist mind are underprivileged and more deserving.

And with this, apparently, you need not concern yourself. I understand. But do not expect me to acquiesce to him and his fellow travelers without a fight. I have it not in me to surrender. Look, mine is mine and no one else's.

Any former primary candidate on the GOP ticket this year would thwart Obama. They would not: steal what's mine, annihilate personal liberty wherever they find it, and foist Marxist rule on our homeland-- including Romney. Does this make Romney a savior? No, it guarantees Obama fails in his quest. It's a matter of ordering priorities for me and turning away an oppressive tyrant is more important than all others subordinate to it. Again, I recognize not everyone has mastered this logic or have different vales and self-interest. I accept your right to make different choices.

In the end, after looking at some national numbers of those considering themselves Republican/Conservative/Libertarian/Independent, it will not avail. Unless Obama can steal some fiercely fought states--and he shall surely make those play as we already witness directed maneuvering-- he will be expelled from office in November.

You may be right. If the Tea Party is overwhelmingly behind Romney then I may not be the Tea Party type that I thought I was. That’s the trouble with labels I guess.

An excellent point. I'm afraid that if that is what it takes to qualify to be a member of the Tea Party today then many of us will be reassessing our affiliation come November. I know I will be if I'm expected to just fall in line and vote for whoever has an 'R' after their name no matter what. To my way of thinking that is just more of the same old BS that got us in the fix we find ourselves in today.

” - - - — I have yet to meet a single tea-party leader that is not going to vote for Mitt Romney and work hard for him.”

Well, that could be true for the single tea-party leaders, but what about the married Tea Party Leaders?

Does Romney REALLY want to be President?

Does Romney give a Monday Morning Major Conservative Speech each week?

Is this Monday Morning Speech filled with attacks on Obama?

Time to bare your “Mitts,” Romney!

Tick-Tock.

I learned as a young man that if you don't stand for something then you'll fall for most anything. I see this in the ABO crowd here beating the bushes for their Golden Calf idol.

But do not expect me to acquiesce to him and his fellow travelers without a fight. I have it not in me to surrender.

Really? So much fight; yet what did you do when the GOP made mitt 'their favorite' right in the beginning? ABO was anyone but Newt. And THE LIAR made sure of that!

The GOP platform now includes same sex marriage, socialistic healthcare w/a cheap rate for baby killing. And the GOP believes you are pleased with it.

I recognize not everyone has mastered this logic

Since when is fear logic? You were snookered and unprepared; yet, it was inevitable. The GOP was deliberate in their choice in the most closely candidate EVER to his opponent. I suggest you take your beef up w/them. What should have been a first round knockout w/Obama, the GOP was against it. Now they want everyone to support a candidate who is not even a Republican but a LIBERAL!

An imposter is GIVEN top billing over a PATRIOT. And you question if I find this amusing? GOP/Rove/Mitt, et al, are laughing their butts off at the biggest hoist they pulled. The left showed them how to do it - JUST DO IT and the peons will bow!

You see, I take this MORE serious than the GOP so I will NOT bow to their tactics or their 'chosen' savior/a bishop in a CULT. Considering what is at stake - the GOP does NOT CARE. Right after the '08 election, mitt and crew said Conservatism is over - this has been in the making for YEARS! How's that for intentions and pre-planned murder to America? I will NOT be part of their game. But not to worry - they planned this well; surely, they have an answer for you.

In any event, may the delegates see the obvious or maybe they are just DEAD FISH. That disease is rampant.
