Glad to see Aiken pulling ahead soundly. My house voted for him today.

I have to eat my prediction early today that Brunner would equal his two opponents combined. I thought many typical Repubs would see him as the “standard” choice and his opponents too unconventional.

Looks like he took advantage of taxpayers hard earned money so why would Rush endorse such a candidate? Rush preaches about this very issue all the time.

It does appear a trend is developing.

Steelman just narrowed the gap between herself & Akin from 10K to 6K votes. She did it with reporting going from 35% to 40%, meaning there’s still plenty of time for her to take the lead.

Claire McCaskill never endorsed Akin. She is running for senate on the dem ticket. She has no love lost for Todd Akin and you can take that to the bank.

Well, Claire McCaskill has endorsed Akin.

Say what? McCaskill wants to run against Akin?
She must think Akin is the weaker candidate.

I voted for Sarah but would be equally thrilled with Akin. Really, any one of the three will do well against Clair, I think. I will easily support the winner this evening!

There’s a bit more outlined here on Wikipedia (although, of course, anything written about Republicans tends to be blown out of proportion) under “controversy.”

I’m not saying I think he’s a crook, but he should’ve perhaps used better judgment. It’s why we’re better off with Lager winning the Lt Gov nod to hold onto the office.

I live in Texas and thus don’t know the players as you do.

I sent Steelman a little cash simply because of the TEA party and Palin’s recommendation.

I hope to see Carnahan walking down the road kicking rock come November!

He is plain spoken and therefore easier to run negative ads against and vilify.

Take heart, friend. That GOP Senate primary in Missouri will come close to a total of 700,000 votes. The Tea Party & Chick-fil-A are alive and well!!! Claire McCaskill is history, no matter which GOPer take this race tonight.

Listening to Claire’s ad sure made me want to vote Akin. What she said he stood for was exactly what I wanted to hear about a candidate.

What Chae is talking about is that McCaskill’s camp allegedly “preferred” to run against Akin, as he is the most Conservative of the candidates. It’s an example of be careful what you wish for, because Akin (and the other two) will beat her.

I’m seeing 1 to 3 dem /republican vote totals.

I wouldn't read too much into that. McCaskill is running unopposed on the Dem side. On the GOP side, we have a hotly contested three-way race.

There is one hotly contested Democrat race, in one congressional district: Russ Carnahan vs. Lacy Clay, two Dem congressmen fighting for one redistricted seat.

I think Claire was trying to be too clever, or believed too much of her own propaganda. I think she’s thinking there’s no way Missouri is THAT conservative, and was trying to use “Conservative” as a pejorative. Or, just possible miss-direction.

Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee are out with a new radio ad in the state, focusing specifically on GOP candidate Todd Akin and calling him “too conservative” for the state — which, given that he’s still in a competitive three-way GOP primary, seems aimed at actually elevating him in the race.

“Todd Akin calls himself the true conservative, but is he too conservative? Akin called President Obama a complete menace to our civilization, and has even discussed his impeachment,” the ad says. “Akin wants to stop all funding to Planned Parenthood, outlaw many forms of birth control and Todd calls most government programs socialism, comparing them to a cancer.”

The ad also points out that Akin was endorsed by “the most conservative leaders in our country,” Michele Bachmann and Mike Huckabee.

Akin is currently facing John Brunner and Sarah Steelman for the GOP nomination, and the primary is next Tuesday. It’s not the first time McCaskill has run an ad focusing on one of her potential GOP rivals, despite the fact that there’s no nominee yet: last month, her campaign cut ads focusing on each of them specifically. But with this ad specifically on Akin, McCaskill is elevating him in a way that suggests Democrats hope to face him this fall.

Also wondering about Jacob Turk. I’d love to see Cleaver lose BIG this year. Could we PLEASE get rid of him this year?
