Rasmussen to Newsmax: 'No Way' Obama Re-elected If Economy Doesn't Improve
Newsmax ^ | AUGUST 8, 2012 | Jim Meyers and John Bachman

Posted on 08/08/2012 5:38:43 PM PDT by RobinMasters

Pollster and political analyst Scott Rasmussen tells Newsmax that if Americans’ satisfaction with their financial situation does not improve before November, there is “no way” President Obama will be re-elected.

He also warns that if Romney does not take Florida, he has “no chance” of winning the White House — but adds that Obama is in trouble there because of seniors’ opposition to Obamacare.

Rasmussen is founder and president of Rasmussen Reports and co-founder of the sports network ESPN. He has been an independent public opinion pollster for more than a decade, and most major news organizations cite his reports.

In an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV on Wednesday, Rasmussen discussed the results of his presidential daily tracking poll that showed Obama with a lead over Romney for two days in a row for the first time since June.

“First of all, an update: The numbers today are tied 45 percent for Romney, 45 percent for Obama, and the bounce for the president came following last Friday’s jobs report.

“The initial reaction to it was, boy, it was better than expected — 163,000 jobs created, well above the projected numbers. What happened, though, in the last few days, is people have looked a little deeper. Perceptions of that report have declined. And this election is not really about Mitt Romney at all. It’s about Barack Obama and the way he’s doing his job. And the biggest measure of that are opinions on the U.S. economy.

“If consumer confidence moves up between now and Election Day, the president will be a lot better off. As of this morning, though, confidence has fallen. Confidence in the U.S. economy has fallen to the lowest level of 2012.”

I have to say this: "Seniors" that enable this evil to continue can go to Hell.

I am sick and tired of their greed and enabling of evil for their own personal gain.

The only people lower than them are the parasites who have been on "unemployment" for 2 years.

Where did the concept of shame go? What happened to decency?

Even a Romney victory will be no occasion for celebration by true conservatives. We will have nominated, then elected a stealth liberal barely better than Homobama. It will be a time for mourning and self condemnation.

Either way, a Christian won't be in the White House next year.

God can use whoever He uses. I have to have hope. For better or worse, Romney is it. Flame away.

Scott Rasmussen did not found ESPN. The writer has him confused with Bill Rasmussen: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Rasmussen

Actually, it looks like ESPN’s Bill Rasmussen is Scott’s father, and Scott did have some role in the early days of ESPN. I did not know that!

You could have said that during the 1980 election cycle also. In 1976, it looked like the Democrats were settling in for a thousand year reign. With the ugliness of Watergate and the unpopularity of Nixon, Jimmy Carter represented the "hope and change" of a previous generation.

I remember it well as a student working and putting myself through college. I remember the fiasco in Iran, inflation and of course the gas lines.

I didn't see how it could get better, but I knew if I worked hard things would be fine.

There are many other factors in the head wind this time. We have moved to totalitarianism, dependency and outright government lawlessness. We either do it this election or indeed it will be over as we know it.

Don't mean to sound like such a downer. Congress is the key, as well as voting out the Resident. Even if this is successful, the debt and regulation created in the last term may be nearly impossible to address let alone turn back. Still have to try.

You are correct and this bears repeating:

And this election is not really about Mitt Romney at all. It’s about Barack Obama and the way he’s doing his job.

No, the country was still overwhelmingly white in 1980. Today it’s less than 70%. Reagan got something like 56% of the white vote in 1980, and that gave him a landslide victory. McCain got about the same % of whites and got beat handily. Romney needs to get closer to Reagan’s 64% of the white vote that he won in 1984.

The demographic shift has been undeniably in favor of the Democrats. The GOP has put itself in a shrinking corner because of its stupid decision to go along with decades of pro-Democrat mass immigration.

THERE IT IS.. The numbers on Fridays report were horrible, but the media spin made it sound positive, and the numbers for Obegone went up!!

If the Clown is given another four there are only two reasons why....

1) Stupid voters coupled with just about 50% of the nation not paying one cent of Fed Income tax (those riding in the wagon), and

2) the propaganda media. The jobs numbers were bad but it makes not one wit of difference to Joe 6-pack 6pm propaganda news watcher - the clown and his propaganda ministry keep repeating over and over that "Obama has created 4.5 MILLION jobs" and not ONE mention of the fact that 1,900,000 fewer jobs exist today then when the clown was inaugurated on Jan 20, 2009.

(jobs lost - see Paul Krugman opinion in NYSlimes, January 5, 2012.

AND yet this news of creating jobs passes for honest journalism, while ignoring the other FACTS?? This makes Joseph Goebbels and Leni Riefenstahl very very proud of their profession.

If the GOP loses on Nov 6 these are the two reasons why and it means that the America that you and I grew up in is gone forever.

'No Way' Obama Re-elected If Economy Doesn't Improve

I wouldn't bet on it.

Millions have lost their homes, businesses, retirements, investments, jobs, etc. Million had their employer provided health reduced to near worthlessness or completely eliminated and it's happening to more every day.

Obama is all about handouts, and millions who've been left with little or no healthcare, or anything else, likely see no frills low end health insurance as an option.

Then throw in tens of hundreds of thousand who understand Romney is just another leftist GOP insider.

No it wasn't Scott, it was the unexpected slack in gas prices, which had their chain jerked +$0.40 on Monday and which will spill into the polls over the next seven days.

You have it.

Gas has jumped .23/ gallon in the last 2 weeks.

Obama is sweating bullets. The economy, scandals about his college status, Holder is in check over F&F, business hates his ass over OBamacare...

He will delaminate in short order, as his mettle disintegrates.

Keep the pressure on all fronts!

Yes, it looks dire for Obama.

But Obama has a secret weapon.

John McCain. You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In Vietnam his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well Johnny was the best.

Sarah Palin introduces McCain at the Convention:

“You did everything to make this private war happen. You’ve done enough damage. This mission is over, Johnny. Do you understand me? This mission is over! Look at them out there! Look at them! If you won’t end this now, they will kill you. Is that what you want? It’s over Johnny. It’s over!”

Cheerio, I agree. If Obama wins the game is over. We will see two trillion dollar annual deficits and 25 percent unemployment. 10 dollar gas. Communism has it's rewards.

"The 2010 mid-terms proved that, when motivated, conservatives, and like-minded independents, will vote in significant numbers. Things are even worse now. Romney will win with over 300EVs."

Don't know what the EV's will be, but if things don't turn around before end October, Rommney wins. I read every day that more and more are out of work and more and more have become disallusioned with Bambi's job-killing policies.
"It's the Economy, Stupid." It always will be.

QE3 happens in 90 days, to answer your question. If the magic economy appears, Obama favorables drag him over the line. If Bernake isn’t headed off, and reportedly their are those trying to do that, Bernake is said to have the votes to get it done.

WSI reported this days ago, and Romney was heard remarking against a stimulus just this week, giving legs to the report. Who wins this one remains to be seen.
