Rasmussen to Newsmax: 'No Way' Obama Re-elected If Economy Doesn't Improve
Newsmax ^ | AUGUST 8, 2012 | Jim Meyers and John Bachman

Posted on 08/08/2012 5:38:43 PM PDT by RobinMasters

Pollster and political analyst Scott Rasmussen tells Newsmax that if Americans’ satisfaction with their financial situation does not improve before November, there is “no way” President Obama will be re-elected.

He also warns that if Romney does not take Florida, he has “no chance” of winning the White House — but adds that Obama is in trouble there because of seniors’ opposition to Obamacare.

Rasmussen is founder and president of Rasmussen Reports and co-founder of the sports network ESPN. He has been an independent public opinion pollster for more than a decade, and most major news organizations cite his reports.

In an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV on Wednesday, Rasmussen discussed the results of his presidential daily tracking poll that showed Obama with a lead over Romney for two days in a row for the first time since June.

“First of all, an update: The numbers today are tied 45 percent for Romney, 45 percent for Obama, and the bounce for the president came following last Friday’s jobs report.

“The initial reaction to it was, boy, it was better than expected — 163,000 jobs created, well above the projected numbers. What happened, though, in the last few days, is people have looked a little deeper. Perceptions of that report have declined. And this election is not really about Mitt Romney at all. It’s about Barack Obama and the way he’s doing his job. And the biggest measure of that are opinions on the U.S. economy.

“If consumer confidence moves up between now and Election Day, the president will be a lot better off. As of this morning, though, confidence has fallen. Confidence in the U.S. economy has fallen to the lowest level of 2012.”

"We will have nominated, then elected a stealth liberal barely better than Homobama. It will be a time for mourning and self condemnation."

Sorry, I won't condemn myself because I voted for anyone other that the hard core Marxist Obambi. Plus, if we keep the House and gain the Senate, Romney will be forced often times to sign favorable legislation if he wants a second term - and ALL politicians want more. It's the nature of the beast.

Or you can either not vote or vote for some obscure politician and let Bambi have 4 more years to trample our Constitution. Yes, I wish we had a better candidate, but more Obambi? Really? How much worse could it be with Romney?

"We have moved to totalitarianism, dependency and outright government lawlessness. We either do it this election or indeed it will be over as we know it."

Succinct quote of the day.

Our choices are an inoperable malignant brain tumor or a .45 bullet through the temple. Nothing to celebrate either way.

"QE3 happens in 90 days, to answer your question. If the magic economy appears, Obama favorables drag him over the line. If Bernake isn’t headed off, and reportedly their are those trying to do that, Bernake is said to have the votes to get it done.

WSI reported this days ago, and Romney was heard remarking against a stimulus just this week, giving legs to the report. Who wins this one remains to be seen."

A market rally the weekend before the election? Ok, all it will do is float equity markets far past the cut-off point from reality. So the markets benefit solely -- which is directly opposed to the entire raison d'etre of Bobo's re-election campaign to date! There's no way to build enough cover to pull that off.

For the majority of my life, as a Christian, I would have been inclined to agree with you. However, having worked for several Mormon’s (A 4-star general on his personal staff and also in the office of a Command Sergeant Major) I can tell you that in their daily lives they strive for the much of the same as do we. While I have issues with their Book or Bible and the very Masonic depictions used by Smith, he basically utilized the Bible. After the lack of dialog on the Black Church in the United States, or liberal theology and watered down Christianity, I NO longer worry about Romney's Church credentials. The very fact of the matter is that if you had to compare either Obama or Romeny as a Religious person of faith only Romeny would come close in ethics or beliefs. Since I have been caught in the crossfire of having a family member involved in the Church of Christ which rejects every other church and who makes it his mission to run down anyone not attending his version of Christianity, and the other extreme of a militant homosexual sister who has found a liberal democratic socialist preaching female gay church.... My point is that at some point, be happy that at least on candidate has some form of Christian teachings in their life and while they are not up to the standards required by Jesus, at least here on Earth one man is at least worshiping in his religions way the same God.

“The economy is going to radically and dramatically improve during the next 90 days? Only if the news media TELLS us so because it’s not going to happen. TOO MUCH DEBT.”.....

Yep, and gas is now at $4.00 a gallon here in central Wisconsin. The economy sure is improving....NOT!

Romney has what we could call an ‘open goal’ here in the UK......if he can’t win this election, political differences aside, he really is a joke...he’s going to have many advantages going into this, if he pulls a John McCain and pussies out he will lose......it’s shocking that it is even close..Obama should be losing in a landslide, this my FRiends is the curse of the media and a scary sign of how far we have fallen in the west....

Spot on the money and everyone I know of who thinks Obama is anything more than an enemy of America is a full-bore loser and I don’t use that term lightly. I don’t call a person a loser simply because he can’t afford a mansion and a Mercedes as some do. I am talking about one foot in the street and the other on a banana peal losers. Unfortunately there are more of those than ever. One “political expert” recently told me that Carter was a great president as was Clinton and Obama is just fine. This guy is a well mannered fellow who was doing odd job work part time and living in a rented room in a cheap motel! Obviously he understands politics much better than those of us who have actually owned and operated a small business or two.

Perhaps if our citizenry was more intelligent that might happen but there’s too many folks who don’t read, who want something for nothing plus a very lackluster opposing candidate guarantee Maobama’s re-election unless some kind of a miracle happens.

On the contrary, the more the economy tanks, the more people seem to gravitate toward Obama. I guess if no jobs are to be found, people will crawl to who has the “stash.”

“He also warns that if Romney does not take Florida, he has “no chance” of winning the White House”

In addition to FL, that also applies to VA, NC, OH and CO. Romney has no path to victory without running the table in all five of those states.

My bad.

WITHIN 90 days is what I should have written!

As in the Sep-Oct time frame, WSI reports, if others can’t stop him from Wall Street.

Sorry about that mistake, and grateful you picked up on that.

"In addition to FL, that also applies to VA, NC, OH and CO. Romney has no path to victory without running the table in all five of those states."

We don't need CO...

2008 + IN, NC, FL, VA, OH, NV o/r IA = 271EV

I'm not worried about FL. But I'm thinking of adjusting this as Romney is well ahead in CO, and if CO flips, NM and NV will come along. Also WI & IA are also looking more convincingly to flip, so the fight goes to VA and OH.

And if the fight is in those two states, it's Obama who has no path to victory, because if Mittens goes 2008 + IN, NC, FL, WI, IA, CO, NV, NM, NH he can actually afford to lose OH and VA. 275-263.

Reapportionment is your friend.

DUH!!!

Thank you Captain Obvious!!

Obama is going to be the first president in the modern age to end his term with fewer people working (no not a smaller percentage of people working, but ACTUALLY FEWER PEOPLE ACTUALLY WORKING) than the day he took office!!! Jimmy Carter couldn’t even manage that!!

The very idea this guy is going to win re-election is laughable on so many levels.

Fight like its a 50-50 election folks, but don’t believe for one minute this thing is going to be close. Fight hard as hell because we shouldn’t settle for just a win, we need a complete and total REPUDIATION of this man and the policies he and the democrats have stood for! We need a loss so damned humiliating that it will be talked about for generations!!! Do not get complacent, fight hard.
