The good sheriff is worried about two things:

1) He can’t control the legitimate tenets of the Second Amendment any longer.
2) He knows that he’s failing at his job and the people sensing it are arming themselves.

There is just no data to suggest that in states where people can carry guns that there is any increase in gun violence. Probably the reverse is true. Maybe it’s time for the LEO’s to partner with the citizens instead of trying to subjugate and abuse them.

But he has to understand that he’s concerned about a problem he doesn’t have yet, and a problem that he does have - that all of us have - is criminals who are armed. Shove it Alexander. The 12 hour class is way more than most states require. A man shouldn't have to pay $200 and lose a day of work just to exercise a right. Furthermore, there's no evidence to support the claim that the 12 hour class is insufficient. Making it more difficult will also make it more difficult to enter into reciprocity agreements with other states, Pennsylvania specifically. We need to be working with PA to develop a reciprocity agreement, not working to make it more difficult.
