Makes sense to me. There are many cities like Boston, where the politicians have been taxing suburbia to fund their Social programs and infrastructure.

In Boston, the politicians have been Socialist since the turn of the 19th Century. So they are like Madison Wisconsin in their intrenched love of Marxism, and the idea of making the producers support the lazy and no good. You could say that Boston is Massachusetts, and thus they are California's psychological sister if you will.

As I told NewHampshireDu in my comment #26, this is will be something Obama expands as he continues to embrace the earth worshiping agenda of the United Nations Agenda 21 treaty that Bush, (the father) signed when he was president.

It is interesting to note that this tax is one that is not secured by property - ergo no lein can be placed on your property if you do not pay it. I suppose they could take your state tax refund - if you had one. Don’t know if they could garnish your wages - it would cost more than its worth to do so. Don’t know how they would react if folks just decided not to pay the damned thing. Sounds like a possibility to me.

They would just instruct the fire dept to not respond to any address which refuses to pay the fee.

That is interesting. Cal Fire has exactly the opposite position in Tuolumne and Calaveras counties. They will refuse to enter a parcel that places their crew in unnecessary danger.

If you want an article fixed, you have to hit the ‘abuse’ button of the first reply.

Let's say that again...

" there is a list of people they want to destroy, to take their homes and bulldoze them. I'm on it. There is nothing wrong with the house. It's only 20 years old. This is about politics. They want to burn us out and have us pay for the privilege."

Thanks “e-s”, I’ll remember that for next time I need something fixed. You would think that after surfing and posting on FR over 14 years I would have known that already.

Just goes to show, you learn something new everyday.

I am convinced it is, and that is one of the angles that Jon Coupal of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association is challenging it in court over.

This has nothing to do with your local fire dept. Those are supported by separate funding sources. In fact this raid on rural California will likely make it more difficult for local fire departments to raise money and get local taxes passed to support local depts. CAlFire operates on a mutual aid nearest resource responds first system with local fire depts. Nobody is going to refuse to come because you didn’t pay the tax.
