Mitt Romney hugs Paul Ryan, but not budget
Politico ^ | Politico

Romney spokeswoman Sarah Pompei said Saturday that the candidate “applauds” Ryan’s ideas, but intends to issue his own blueprint for reshaping the federal budget. After Romney’s speech introducing Ryan, advisers said the former Massachusetts governor has no intention of being handcuffed to all the specifics of Ryan’s plans — though he has said in the past that he’d sign Ryan’s budget if passed by Congress.

“He has said it moves us in the right direction. He has said that if it’s sent to him, he would sign it. And he has said that he will put forward his own plan,” said one senior Romney adviser. “He is the presidential candidate.”

It’s not clear whether Romney will address his differences of opinion with Ryan, whatever they may be, in any depth between now and Nov. 6, or whether he’ll detail a debt-reduction proposal with the same degree of specificity as Ryan’s. Romney evidently hopes to benefit from Ryan’s brand as a fiscal warrior, without handing Democrats a gift-wrapped attack line to drive conservative-leaning senior citizens away from the GOP.

That may be easier said than done. Introducing Ryan in Norfolk, Va., Romney touted the Wisconsin lawmaker’s fiscal expertise and vowed that he’d protect entitlement programs as president. He called for “bold, specific and achievable” fiscal policies, but did not mention Ryan’s budget by name.

Do not trust Politico to give you the truth, or even a reasonable facsimile of it. Politico was created by Washington Post reporters who decided to leave the WP before the layoffs began due to its declining ad income and readership.

I trust Politico as much as I trust the New York Times and the Washington comPost. Which is not at all.

What you’re saying is that Mitt Romney’s betrayal of the conservative movement and of the country, over and over again, doesn’t matter because Obama is also a traitor.

Two negatives don’t make a positive, unless you’re in the GOPe.

Just wait and see...Mitt picked Ryan to try and bamboozle Conservatives (again), and here he is admitting that he could care less about his VP-pick's budget plan.

I guarantee that Romney's people have already handed their RINO script to Ryan, and ordered him to not deviate from it, period. Ryan will be effectively muzzled, just like Palin was in 2008.

The question is, will he go rogue too, like Sarah did, or stick to the milquetoast Romney line.

My guess is the latter, since they've already got Ryan's minders in place.

And of course Politico never mentioned that Ryan's plan will have NO affect on Seniors currently 55 years of age and older.

I suspect this inconvenient fact was left out of the poll of Florida seniors cited by Politico.

No, what I clearly said is Obama is a COMMUNIST.

Obama, David Axelrod, and Valerie Jarrett were all raised by and mentored by card carrying Communists who all, coincidentally, knew each other and the three of them are busy carrying out the Communist plans taught to them by these mentors.

I also said, I CAN'T BELIEVE PEOPLE HERE WOULD PUT POLITICS AHEAD OF THEIR COUNTRY.

WRONG. I read the QUOTE from Romney’s SPOKESMAN....

If you had read further down, you would have seen this...

Romney evidently hopes to benefit from Ryan’s brand as a fiscal warrior, without handing Democrats a gift-wrapped attack line to drive conservative-leaning senior citizens away from the GOP.

For the last 50 years, ever since the creation of Medicare, it's been the same theme from the democrats. Now, they are attacking with the predictable "Ryan will take away Medicare from Senior citizens" theme.

Just an hour after the pick, Debbie Blabbermounth -Schultz was being quoted on all top of the hour news saying, "I was on the budget committee with Paul Ryan and I know his tax plan is extreme right-wing ideology and he wants to eliminate Medicare/Medicaid for all Senior citizens"

That’s exactly what you’re doing. Even RomneyCare was designed by the same socialist in the DSA (Obama’s old club) who also went on to help design ObamaCare itself. Check Trevor Loudon’s New Zeal blog for that story. You’re ignoring the fact that Romney is also a progressive and an enemy of our movement for POLITICAL reasons, because you think that this fight is only about one man, Obama, when really it’s about the entire IDEOLOGY behind him that is winning the fight no matter which way you slice it.

Notice there is always an excuse for why Romney won’t take a stand on this or that. No one looks to his record for why that may be, but only what they Hope.

I can't find a thing wrong with this. Paul Ryan is a very smart man and Romney has the track record for saving and building businesses. I believe it will be very difficult to turn things around considering the damage that the commie thug in the White Hut has done.

I hope ObamaCare is the first thing to go. We're running out of time.

Obama is a Communist. There is no evidence that Romney is anything other than a common liberal.

That was my very first thought. Making him VP makes him Mitt’s slave.

Yup. And what's both pathetic and appalling is that so many former "nose-holders" are now wholly embracing Romney and the GOP-E based on the "ABO" hoo-ey. Heck I just got called a troll on another thread by one of these neo-Romneyites because I'm sticking to my Conservative principles---on a Conservative board no less!!!

And the invective and general nastiness that is currently being hurled at us "purists" by the self-proclaimed "realists" is way beyond the pale.

There are going to be a bunch of people who will be very sorry they ever jumped into bed with Romney this election cycle.

It’s been suggested that a big part of picking Ryan was to get him out of the congress.

VP's usually gets sent to state funerals in places like Abba-Zaba and the Congo, to appease the dictators and witch doctors. He's leaving on a jet plane, don't know when he'll be back again.

What I take away from this article is that Romney would sign Ryan's budget if it was presented to him. So I'm not quite sure where the "not embracing his budget" comes from. Romney does say that he plans to present his own budget plan but of course he should say that. He's the presidential candidate. It would make him appear weak to say that he doesn't have his own plan.

As for the conspiracy theory that Romney chose Ryan to remove him from power in Congress, that is easily debunked. Ryan is not taking himself off the ballot for Congress so if Romney loses, Ryan will stay in Congress. However, if Romney wins, Ryan is now in even a more powerful position. So either way, Ryan is not going to have any power taken away from him - unless he loses the House race as well. Which is unlikely as I believe he got 70% of the vote last time around.
