Paul Ryan welcomed home with massive rally in Wisconsin

WAUKESHA, Wis.-- The largest crowd of the campaign so far for a Mitt Romney event welcomed home favorite son Rep. Paul Ryan at a massive rally here in the congressman's district Sunday night, pushing the GOP's vice presidential nominee to tears as he took the stage, setting off cheers with two simple words:

"Hi mom."

With that, voice cracking, Ryan showed his Wisconsin credentials to a crowd the Romney campaign hopes will be emblematic of the charismatic congressman's support in the Badger state, a reliably Democratic enclave the Republican candidate hopes to turn red this fall.

"My veins run with cheese, bratwurst, a little Spotted Cow, Leinie's, and some Miller," Ryan said, mentioning two well-known local beers. "I was raised on the Packers, Badgers, Bucks and Brewers. I like to hunt here, I like to fish here, I like to snowmobile here. I even think ice fishing is interesting."

"I'm a Wisconsinite through and through," Ryan said to cheers from a crowd which contained many members of Ryan's extended family, and which the campaign estimated to be more than ten thousand strong, likely the largest turnout ever for a Romney event.

The energy generated by Ryan seemed to inspire the man at the top of ticket, who took on a heckler midway through his own remarks, then turned the moment into an indictment of President Obama's campaign, who's tactics have riled Romney in recent weeks.

Turnout was between 10,000 and 13,500 per the Live thread, and they only knew about 1 day in advance of the rally.

I liked what he said about your kid coming home from school with all “A”s on the report card you don’t go to the bus driver and say “great job!”.

You could probably get a Ryan bumper sticker from the Wisconsin GOP because he's still running for Congress in addition to VP.

“Meanwhile, Obama’s Chicago fundraiser gets half attendance.”

In which case, they move the rally to a smaller venue, or the Leftist media refuses to show the yawning empty spaces around the small crowd. You can always tell when it’s a union crowd or a rent-a-mob crowd because they are too lazy to clap.

Get there early. Our senator Ron Johnson had to be escorted down the wrong lane to get there on time.

http://strata-sphere.com/blog/index.php/archives/5918 ~ remember this one? Sarah Palin had just been named and with less than 12 hours notice 23,000 people showed up for her in the very heart of the Leftwingtard lair! Romney hates her.

This is the same place where Walker gave his victory speech on June 5th... A very fitting venue to hold this event.

Romney hates her.

That's why I'm glad she's not going to the convention. I hope all of her candidates win and conservatives take over the house.

I'm not a Romney supporter but I was thinking today.

Romney has no core values that I can see. If he does, there's a chance that maybe he is more conservative than we all know. I cannot say for certain because I've only seen him govern in liberal Mass.

The reason I don't support Romney is because I still think he's a RINO.

One thing I know for sure. He blows in the wind. He is what he thinks his voters want him to be. After seeing the cheers that Paul Ryan gets, maybe Romney will get the message. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I cannot go as far as say "trust but verify" so I cannot support him.

If he wins the Presidency and surprises me, I'll support him next time (if I feel that he really moved to the right - and not just because he wants to win that second term.

Until then, I must assume he's a RINO who hates Conservatives therefore I will be ready to see someone like Sarah Palin to primary the guy in 2016 if not run in the general as a Conservative independent.

Either way, we must start as soon as he wins the Presidency (if he does win).
