WASHINGTON (AP) -- The tea party didn't get its man in Mitt Romney. But the movement got one of its ideological heroes in the Republican presidential ticket's No. 2 slot.

Romney's selection of Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate marked a huge victory for the tea party. Its roaring influence helped Republicans take back the House in 2010, gaining 63 seats. Since then, its no-compromise positions on deep budget cuts set the parameters of high-profile fiscal fights on Capitol Hill.

"I guess the tea party has sold out"

Ha ha. Right. You just wrote off a few million folks. With your 'litmus test' how many do you have left to turn this country around?

"If Mr. Romney is elected, I think there will be a lot of very disappointed conservatives in his first twelve months."

The alternative is a lot worse, and I'm sure you see it that way also.

This has shaped up to be a defining election while others overstate their importance.

The character of the country is on the ballot. What is America and what will it be?

Either the Tea Party and its issues still matter or they don't. Either socialism, even a planned economy is what Americans want or we revive the "free" market economy we had. Either racism, belittlement, class warfare and demagoguery will prevail or we follow a positive path forward for all Americans.

Ryan is a great choice for Democrats because they've run against him two years. He'll excite their base some to get out the vote.

‘I'm sure you see it that way also. ‘

You are wrong on that point.
There may be a few distinctions between Mr. Obama and Mr. Romney but no real differences on substance or philosophy.
Tax increases, gun control, homosexual privileges, big government, crony capitalism. Even Barak Hussain Obama and Mr. Romney seem to have a similar background as to the number and age of wives that they can kick around.
The difference is that Mr. Romney, with the support of the Republicans, can do more to complete and expand the Obama agenda than Mr. Obaba has.

I have no idea how you really see ‘it’ though I suspect your view would be both patronizing and presumptuous.

No, I’m not writting off those who feel that TARP and other bailouts were a travesty and NOT FREE MARKET.

I’m writing off those who don’t care about that.

Ok, so what’s the option.... ‘Four More Years’!?

You people continue to debate our side - when the next move is against the RATs, and you still continue to war against our side. I find it fascinating.

*** Many others are glad Mitt did not pick Rubio ***

Count me in with 'Others'. My problem with Rubio, and it's only a *teeny one*(/s), is that...

He's Not Eligible!
Neither of his parents were US Citizens when he was born. So it's game over for him being POTUS or in the line of succession.

Sorry Rubio fans but that's the way it is. If we stoop to the Dems level by ignoring the Constitution what's that make us?

The current left wing mediot and rat attacks on Ryan will have zero impact on the vote in November.

The hate spewing appeals to the brain dead and morality dead left voters hate anyone who wants to be left alone and keep his/her money from the tax and spenders.

Those losers would never vote for a good man or woman. So we are not losing any votes with Ryan.

Ryan will appeal to the real independent voters, who are necessary to defeat the Obozo lovers and their beloved Obozo. The attacks by the mediots will turn more independents into the Romney/Ryan camp.
