The premiere of a film to honor World War II veterans broke the Guinness World Record on Saturday for the largest attendance at a film screening.

The previous world record of 27,022 attendees was set in 2010 in Brazil. According to the producers of the film “Honor Flight,” the premiere of their documentary — highlighting stories from the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight program, which flies World War II veterans to see the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. — beat the record with a crowd of 28,442.

My trip was sponsored by the local Girl Scouts. Bob Dole spoke to us at one of the memorials. The best part is to make sure that you, or someone who can, post a writeup about you in the WWII Memorial. http://wwiimemorial.com/ for howto.

Absolutely. My step-father went on HF. It was an awesome experience for him. Very moving thing to see people lined up to send them off and welcome them back. The Patriot Guard Riders were there, also. I was choked up with tears the whole time.

Poppa, and Seven Uncles all gone as well as all my old mentors from Scouts, work and church. All gone and missed every single day. They took no crap. They were fair in praise and punishment for the most part and expected great things of me. No matter what, Dad always asked if I had done my best. If I had given all I could to the task. Good was never good enough for him and that was right.

What happened to the Boomer Generation? How did the Greatest Generation raise such a bunch of miscreants?

How did the Greatest Generation raise such a bunch of miscreants?

The few miscreants are on TV all the time because the left wing entertainment industry loves them. Two million boomers served proudly in Vietnam and most have worked, paid taxes and raised their families in quiet anonymity. Boomers elected Ronald Reagan -- twice.

Don't buy the manufactured media stereotype of the Boomer generation. It ain't true.

I am one of them and a lot of them I don’t have much regard for a lot of them. I had their kids in Scouts and found many of them lacking in parental guidance. The early ones of the generation may have done a better job.

I found most parents consumed with getting and having and making money and social position. Mostly shallow and empty of deep thought. Maybe it was just the area were were in then. We left, paid a price and went back to the country to finish raising our kids.
