GOON SQUAD IN IOWA: A HARBINGER OF THINGS TO COME?
Powerline ^ | AUGUST 13, 2012 | John Hinderaker

Paul Ryan spoke at the Iowa State Fair today, and his speech was interrupted by two women who first heckled and then stormed the stage. My first thought was, Where is the Secret Service? Apparently Ryan’s Secret Service protection hasn’t begun yet; the scene could easily have turned scary. Here is the video:

Video here

No word yet on who the women are, or what connection they have to the Democratic Party or the Obama campaign. One wonders whether the Democrats will turn to heckling and stage-storming as a routine matter. It might not be a bad strategy: by turning out a handful of hecklers, the Democrats can give friendly reporters an excuse to write about something other than the content of Romney’s or Ryan’s speeches, and to convey the impression that the Republicans are meeting with a general hostility. Such a tactic would be of a piece with everything else Barack Obama is doing, as he seems to be trying to bully his way to a second term.

Iowahawk, meanwhile, summed up the episode in a tweet:

Screaming hysterical hecklers at Ryan IA state fair speech rush stage, punch supporters, get arrested. I guess because Ryan’s an extremist.

Heh.

The SS better stay on their toes this election. The messiah's rabid followers have seen OWS protestors get away with murder (figuratively speaking) for the past year, and its giving them ideas.

Goons yes. Squad no.

A couple of post pubescent pre-menopausal, at least one of whom has questionable chromosome dominance and number, female looking things are not a squad.

One is definitely missing a set of pigmentation genes.

Another left-wing Catholic.

Big surprise there, right?

I meant that if they're going to call themselves journalists, then make them do journalism. What they're doing now is not journalism.

If that happens, and if that is how the MSM chooses to cover it, then they must be held accountable to their profession somehow.

They ARE accountable to their profession, since the MSM is largely composed of professional propagandists, not journalists. Propagandists are judged by their effectiveness in changing minds.

They are able to get close because the Media allows them to set up in front with them, just so they can film the confrontation and have a story for the day. They are like-minded props for the Media...

Yell back louder.

Interesting. I guess we know what sorts of things to expect from the left, don’t we?

I saw that guy on the FOX coverage while I was having lunch.

All the other attendees were holding Romney posters in front of him so he could not be seen from the stage. It look like he was trying to climb or stand on something to get a little above the crowd. You could not hear what he was yelling but his actions were clearly violent.

He will be back.

He had secret service all around him as he worked the crowd the day he was announced so the thought that his protection hadn’t started is incorrect.

Ryan was an odd pick. For one thing, he will split the Catholic vote. Remember Ryan got blasted for his budget by the Catholic Bishops. Many Catholics turned against Obama because of the HHS mandate, and now I have seen some who will either not vote or vote for Obama because of Ryan.

Not a bad pick, but not a wise one strategically.

Yes, and ultimately what will be necessary to stop them. After May 1970 the mass demonstrations were no longer quite so party like and it became easier to separate the goats from the sheep. Most of the goats retreated to academia and the media, where they can still be found today.

The Left are like children who have never been disciplined. The limits are pushed ever further because there are never (so far) any consequences. Better the ax falls early but eventually it will have to fall.

I'm not a Catholic but from what I know of Catholic doctrine what some bishops say about Medicare and forcing Catholic institutions to pay for abortion and contraception are not on the same plane. The latter seems to involve violating official Catholic doctrines. The former is just some opinion of some bishops about something. And I would add it's something about which they don't know much. Do not practicing Catholics understand the difference?

I recall the eighties when the bishops demanded a "nuclear freeze", implicitly attacking Reagan. And the bishops didn't understand what they were talking about there either, as history attests. You can't equate basic moral issues with complex economic and defense/technology issues. The latter require some expertise which these bishops do not possess. The fact is these bishops don't understand their own limitations. They should have learned their lesson from their nuclear freeze nonsense.

You have a good memory.

Ford was lucky that day. The girl was so zoned out, she couldn’t shoot straight.

P.S. I was happy to see today that Paul Ryan has Secret Service protection now. He needs it! The hate groups, especially those who hate traditional moral values, have him in their sights.

I think I recognized the tall, bald SS guy as having previously served with Sarah Palin in 2008.
