GOON SQUAD IN IOWA: A HARBINGER OF THINGS TO COME?
Powerline ^ | AUGUST 13, 2012 | John Hinderaker

Posted on 08/13/2012 7:43:57 PM PDT by lasereye

Paul Ryan spoke at the Iowa State Fair today, and his speech was interrupted by two women who first heckled and then stormed the stage. My first thought was, Where is the Secret Service? Apparently Ryan’s Secret Service protection hasn’t begun yet; the scene could easily have turned scary. Here is the video:

Video here

No word yet on who the women are, or what connection they have to the Democratic Party or the Obama campaign. One wonders whether the Democrats will turn to heckling and stage-storming as a routine matter. It might not be a bad strategy: by turning out a handful of hecklers, the Democrats can give friendly reporters an excuse to write about something other than the content of Romney’s or Ryan’s speeches, and to convey the impression that the Republicans are meeting with a general hostility. Such a tactic would be of a piece with everything else Barack Obama is doing, as he seems to be trying to bully his way to a second term.

Iowahawk, meanwhile, summed up the episode in a tweet:

Screaming hysterical hecklers at Ryan IA state fair speech rush stage, punch supporters, get arrested. I guess because Ryan’s an extremist.

Heh.

the state of things recently reminded me of the Teamster's strike of 1978, I think it was. Windshields were being shot out of passing tractor-trailers, and bricks were being tossed too, naturally. I remember seeing semi's with big signs on them that said, "don't shoot, I'm going home".

I hitch-hiked a lot and I recall riding with a guy who was hauling wine in a u-haul, because they couldn't run the risk of driving a genuine commercial vehicle on the highway at the time.

there's precedent for very interesting possibilities.

It’s only going to get uglier. Wait till the poll numbers start reflecting Romney’s rise in popularity thanks to Paul Ryan. There’s going to be blood running in the streets. If Fox news doesn’t start carrying the details of this crap, we should all drop our subscriptions.

If that happens, and if that is how the MSM chooses to cover it, then they must be held accountable to their profession somehow.

Iowa CCI goons. I know this group and detest them. I think I would have been carted off today by law enforcement had I been there and been physically close to them. Restraining myself would have been almost impossible.

They are Marxist thugs.

I was very impressed with the way Mr. Ryan kept his cool. Those women were kept from having the “moment of fame”, and Mr. Ryan got his message across while ignoring them.

Mr. Ryan

It reminds me of the union thugs who started showing up at town hall meetings prior to the 2010 election. They came to provoke a confrontation with Tea Party folks. I think some purple shirted thugs even beat up on a conservative black guy at one of the meetings.

Secret Service should have been on the job. Remember it was a female heckler who took a shot at Gerald Ford.

It is going to get even uglier. I suggest a kevlar vest for Ryan (to start with) and a couple of huge bodyguards in addition to SS.

I don't recall the one in 1978, but the Teamster strike in 1970 was especially violent in Ohio and the National Guard was called out to provide convoy escort for truckers. The strike had been "settled" in a national agreement but wildcat actions, including sniper shootings, continued.

Those same guardsmen, mostly kids, having spent two sleepless days being shot at by Teamster thugs then were sent to a college campus where anti-war radicals had burned down the ROTC building and were rumored to be planning to torch the entire town. Two days later was May 4 and the place was Kent State.

Time to start up the prayer warriors for Ryan.

He's good and they know it

The more people get to see and hear him, the more popular he'll become and the more they'll hate him and come after him.

These are not stable, balanced people.

Liberalism (progressivism) has been said to be a mental disorder and these CCI loons support that theory.

Welcome to the obamanation. Be watchful and prepared.

No question; Obama does not like the crowds R/R getting. This could thin them out; or so they may hope; as well as changing the 'story of the day'.

This is what we get from 'the Left' - communist thuggery - Union goons - paid hacks; because, in their Leninist/Marxist and/or just zombie brains, free speech is theirs; not 'yours'; and free arena of ideas; is not free; save for their expressing their ideas; without hindrance. Of course; free and fair 'competition' is anathema to these so mind-numb. Better that we just 'owe' them.

No; you Dems who imagine your Party is still 'your father's Oldsmobile. It is not; and it is not 'politics as usual'.

We know that this has been an MO planned; should Obama feel need to go zombie negative. And no doubt; more to come. Obama needs/wants a fight; and will get exactly, as he orders up.

That said; I pray the 'forces for Good' in America; prevail.

No 'Revolution' - Just an Election. . .

The SS better stay on their toes this election. The messiah's rabid followers have seen OWS protestors get away with murder (figuratively speaking) for the past year, and its giving them ideas.

They ARE accountable to their profession, since the MSM is largely composed of professional propagandists, not journalists. Propagandists are judged by their effectiveness in changing minds.

They are able to get close because the Media allows them to set up in front with them, just so they can film the confrontation and have a story for the day. They are like-minded props for the Media...

I saw that guy on the FOX coverage while I was having lunch.

All the other attendees were holding Romney posters in front of him so he could not be seen from the stage. It look like he was trying to climb or stand on something to get a little above the crowd. You could not hear what he was yelling but his actions were clearly violent.

He will be back.

Ryan was an odd pick. For one thing, he will split the Catholic vote. Remember Ryan got blasted for his budget by the Catholic Bishops. Many Catholics turned against Obama because of the HHS mandate, and now I have seen some who will either not vote or vote for Obama because of Ryan.

Not a bad pick, but not a wise one strategically.

Yes, and ultimately what will be necessary to stop them. After May 1970 the mass demonstrations were no longer quite so party like and it became easier to separate the goats from the sheep. Most of the goats retreated to academia and the media, where they can still be found today.

The Left are like children who have never been disciplined. The limits are pushed ever further because there are never (so far) any consequences. Better the ax falls early but eventually it will have to fall.

I'm not a Catholic but from what I know of Catholic doctrine what some bishops say about Medicare and forcing Catholic institutions to pay for abortion and contraception are not on the same plane. The latter seems to involve violating official Catholic doctrines. The former is just some opinion of some bishops about something. And I would add it's something about which they don't know much. Do not practicing Catholics understand the difference?

I recall the eighties when the bishops demanded a "nuclear freeze", implicitly attacking Reagan. And the bishops didn't understand what they were talking about there either, as history attests. You can't equate basic moral issues with complex economic and defense/technology issues. The latter require some expertise which these bishops do not possess. The fact is these bishops don't understand their own limitations. They should have learned their lesson from their nuclear freeze nonsense.

P.S. I was happy to see today that Paul Ryan has Secret Service protection now. He needs it! The hate groups, especially those who hate traditional moral values, have him in their sights.

I think I recognized the tall, bald SS guy as having previously served with Sarah Palin in 2008.
