When They Come For Your Guns, You Will Turn Them Over

August 13, 2012
By Jim Karger

“When they come for my gun, they will have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands,” is a common refrain I often hear from the Neo-Cons when there is a threat, credible or otherwise, that the US government is going to take their firearms.

And, when I hear this crazy talk, I agree with them openly. “You are right. They will pry your gun from your cold dead hands,” which I often follow with the question, “And where will that leave you except face down in a pool of your own blood [in] the middle of the street, just another dead fool resisting the State?”

This is not a question they are comfortable with, if only because the intent of their saber-rattling was to imply they would fight to keep their weapons, and win.

Nice fantasy. It’s not happening.

If the federal government decides to disarm the public, and when the increasingly-militarized rolls down your street after a not-so-subtle request that you kindly turn over your firearms and ammunition “for the common good,” it will be nothing less than suicide by cop to do anything other than what you are told.

The militarization of US police forces is ongoing and escalating. Many cities and towns now own tanks, armed personnel carriers, even attack helicopters, and almost all are outfitted with military weapons not available to the general public.

And, it is not just your hometown cops who are getting new boy-toys. The military itself is buying up weaponry not just for use in the current or next scheduled war, but to deal with the likes of you, citizens who don’t seem to understand that the Bill of Rights has been overruled, and that specifically includes, but is not limited to, the right to protest and engage in civil disobedience.

Also ignored (as if it didn’t even exist) is the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 which generally bars the military from law enforcement activities within the United States.

According to Public Intelligence:

“…for the last two years, the President’s Budget Submissions for the Department of Defense have included purchases of a significant amount of combat equipment, including armored vehicles, helicopters and even artillery, under an obscure section of the FY2008 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for the purposes of ‘homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and providing military support to civil authorities.’ Items purchased under the section include combat vehicles, tanks, helicopters, artillery, mortar systems, missiles, small arms and communications equipment. Justifications for the budget items indicate that many of the purchases are part of routine resupply and maintenance, yet in each case the procurement is cited as being ‘necessary for use by the active and reserve components of the Armed Forces for homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and providing military support to civil authorities’ under section 1815 of the FY 2008 NDAA.”

And, they are not just arming cops and weekend warriors for domestic purposes. Active duty Marines are now being trained for law enforcement operations all over the world (of which the US remains a part) specifically to deal with civil uprisings, and the US government knows that civil uprisings are coming to a town near you just as soon as the fantasy of a healing economy is shattered, the US dollar fails, and unemployment goes to 30%+ in real numbers.

And, to you tough-talking Neo-Cons with your AR-15 rifles and a few thousand rounds of ammo, here is the reality: they will take your guns, and no, all your Second Amendment bluster aside, you are not going to do anything about it. You are not going to take on a platoon of Marines with state-of-the-art automatic weapons and the best body armor you cannot buy protected by armed personnel carriers and attack helicopters unless you choose to die that day — for nothing. You will either be in the country or out, and if you are in, you will stay in and you will comply.

That is your choice… for the moment.

“I despise the “lost in a boating accident” posts”

Me, too! It’s cowardly, really. “They” are not going to accept such a statment, we all know that, but also it tells me the person isn’t willing to stand and be counted. They shy away from adversity while hiding behind something they think is cute and funny. There is nothing funny about running away, and there is nothing cute about thinking you’re trying to be sly when everyone knows the truth. I won’t tell people all that I have but I will say, “Yeah, I’ve got guns, mine weren’t lost in a boating accident, what of it?!”

Ironic thing, there is a FReeper that really did have to lose his guns overboard real quick when the Mexicans approached his boat way off shore. He’s the ONLY person I accept such a statement from.

It is alive and well in every city in America and the people just sit back and watch it gobble up their rights with no resistance whatsoever.

I have mailed your successes to at least a dozen state congressman’s homes. I am getting medium responses from them. It’ll be another two years before we can get serious about it,

We have biennial (every two years) sessions of our Nevada Legislature which are limited by law to 120 days.

“.....Could you personally stand down in face of those orders from your superiors? “

Yes, and I have, so it isn’t just conjecture. The trick is in how you do it. Granted as a mere sargeant I was careful about it. “Request Mast.” (Those two words will get you all the way up the Chain of Command to the Commandant with no other explaination.) I also observed others doing that sort of thing when I was in the Corps.

In particular, a WO-4 Warrant Officer that had no qualms about “speaking” to the Commanding General while The CG sat in the O-Club eating his lunch about things the Gunner saw on base that he didn’t like or orders he disagreed with....

Believe me that Marine Gunners, Officers, and NCOs are well aware of US laws restricting the military from domestic law enforcement actions. I wouldn’t be so worried about Marines were I you. I think that applies to the Navy too!

The Army or Air Force???? I don’t know....personally I have always thought that, from what little I know, their culture and customs/traditions were a little odd, so I can’t speak about what they would do.....Wesley Clark and Waco come to mind...... It’s probably just me.

“their culture and customs/traditions were a little odd”

I can attest to that. The Air Force is so lax that I have come to call them “civilians in uniform”. I catch heat for that but the Marines and AF are so many worlds apart as to not speak the same language or understand the same concepts. There is a chain of command but what’s on paper and what’s the reality of politics are two differing things.

“At the end of things, all we can do is say “I did my duty.”’

If, at the end of things, we, each of us, are so privileged as to be able to honestly declare from the innermost caverns of our being, “I did my duty”, then we become the recipients of riches everlasting.

And thank you for the kind words. They reassure that I am not alone.

Because for the collectivist, the murdered victims were the obstacle that stood in the way and not to be viewed as fellow human beings with families and lives. The endless dead were obstructions! Had they not been such barriers to progress, it could have worked! Their monstrous ideology views its victims the way spousal abusers view theirs. “If she hadn’t opened her mouth I wouldn’t have done it.”

Denial of accountability is deeply integral to collectivism.

I want them to know that the day that they announce that my guns are illegal and they must be surrendered to the government is the day that I will go hunting for the SOB's that passed such a law.

I want them to also know that there will be no holds barred. I will shoot through their two year old grand daughter if that's what I have to do to kill them. As God is my witness.

Practice, practice, practice. You fight like you exercise.
You obviously have no military experience.
As you age, some things get more difficult, such as a steady aim, and a rapid draw.
Being accurate is a practiced skill, and accuracy is more important than speed (just as long as you aren't too slow about it).
Then there's reloading practice, and practice builds confidence.
No, it doesn't come naturally. It's a learned and practiced skill.

You obviously are not very intelligent. I’m a Viet Nam era veteran!

I an an expert rifleman, member of the NRA and hunt each year. During the year between hunting seasons I only shoot my guns to sight them in. The “science” that comes naturally is to understand how the rear sight and front post align on the target or how the cross-hairs on the scope align on the target. There is nothing else to know.

You don’t need to be a “Rambo” or some type of an action figure to be a deadly shot. When (and if) the civil war begins, I will be taking out targets at a much longer range than you and your pistols and semi-automatic arsenal.

Quite a few firearms skills are perishable. "Riding a bike" only works to an extent. Yes, you may be able to still get on and peddle, but you won't be doing much in the way of the trick riding you used to be able to do.

Hunting once or twice a year is a far cry from practicing 3-gun drills weekly, staying in shape, and knowing your gear because you use it regularly...

“Hell they can’t even disarm the Crips and the Bloods. Will some patriots most likely die in such a situation yes, but they died at Lexington and Concord to and we know how that turned out.”

King George zerobama has no knowledge of or respect for what this nation is all about. He will find out that it’s not just bluster if/when he tries to disarm this country militarily... he’ll face another Lexington and Concord and WE know how that turned out, but perhaps he doesn’t know, or doesn’t care. I believe the latter. His purpose in life is to destroy our country, no matter what.

The author obviously doesn't have any idea what US Marines are made of. I seriously doubt that many, if any would engage in the violent suppression of our constitutional rights to satisfy the UN.

Three gun drills weekly huh? Are you some type of Rambo?

My “gear” consists of 3 pistols, 2 shotguns & 5 rifles ranging from .22 to 7mm mag.

You may not believe this, but I do know them well...and they know me well. I don’t need to use them 3 times a week because I have the mental capacity to remember how to use them from the last I used them...and I’ve had some of these “friends” for over 45 years. Can’t get any better than that can it?

When (and if) the time comes to defend what’s left of our freedoms, believe me...I will take out as many as you think you can.

As far as staying in shape...I will have an iced down cooler of Coronas beside me to make me braver than I normally would. My shape is kinda round and I spent many years making it that way. When I shoot long range I’m normally using a tripod or laying prone so staying in shape has absolutely nothing to do with how well you shoot.
