When They Come For Your Guns, You Will Turn Them Over
August 13, 2012
By Jim Karger
When they come for my gun, they will have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands, is a common refrain I often hear from the Neo-Cons when there is a threat, credible or otherwise, that the US government is going to take their firearms.
And, when I hear this crazy talk, I agree with them openly. You are right. They will pry your gun from your cold dead hands, which I often follow with the question, And where will that leave you except face down in a pool of your own blood [in] the middle of the street, just another dead fool resisting the State?
This is not a question they are comfortable with, if only because the intent of their saber-rattling was to imply they would fight to keep their weapons, and win.
Nice fantasy. Its not happening.
If the federal government decides to disarm the public, and when the increasingly-militarized rolls down your street after a not-so-subtle request that you kindly turn over your firearms and ammunition for the common good, it will be nothing less than suicide by cop to do anything other than what you are told.
The militarization of US police forces is ongoing and escalating. Many cities and towns now own tanks, armed personnel carriers, even attack helicopters, and almost all are outfitted with military weapons not available to the general public.
And, it is not just your hometown cops who are getting new boy-toys. The military itself is buying up weaponry not just for use in the current or next scheduled war, but to deal with the likes of you, citizens who dont seem to understand that the Bill of Rights has been overruled, and that specifically includes, but is not limited to, the right to protest and engage in civil disobedience.
Also ignored (as if it didnt even exist) is the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 which generally bars the military from law enforcement activities within the United States.
According to Public Intelligence:
for the last two years, the Presidents Budget Submissions for the Department of Defense have included purchases of a significant amount of combat equipment, including armored vehicles, helicopters and even artillery, under an obscure section of the FY2008 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for the purposes of homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and providing military support to civil authorities. Items purchased under the section include combat vehicles, tanks, helicopters, artillery, mortar systems, missiles, small arms and communications equipment. Justifications for the budget items indicate that many of the purchases are part of routine resupply and maintenance, yet in each case the procurement is cited as being necessary for use by the active and reserve components of the Armed Forces for homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and providing military support to civil authorities under section 1815 of the FY 2008 NDAA.
And, they are not just arming cops and weekend warriors for domestic purposes. Active duty Marines are now being trained for law enforcement operations all over the world (of which the US remains a part) specifically to deal with civil uprisings, and the US government knows that civil uprisings are coming to a town near you just as soon as the fantasy of a healing economy is shattered, the US dollar fails, and unemployment goes to 30%+ in real numbers.
And, to you tough-talking Neo-Cons with your AR-15 rifles and a few thousand rounds of ammo, here is the reality: they will take your guns, and no, all your Second Amendment bluster aside, you are not going to do anything about it. You are not going to take on a platoon of Marines with state-of-the-art automatic weapons and the best body armor you cannot buy protected by armed personnel carriers and attack helicopters unless you choose to die that day for nothing. You will either be in the country or out, and if you are in, you will stay in and you will comply.
That is your choice
for the moment.

Karger sure is a beam of sunshine.
A significant part of the public is viscerally opposed to our troops being half way around the world, killing savages. How much more public outrage will arise if the US Military were at home, killing US citizens who don’t want to turn over their guns?
We tried disarming the VC, the Iraqis and the Afghans-how’d that work out?
You really think US Marines will fire on US Citizens defending their Constitutional Rights?
I would be more worried about the person who GAVE that order to the Marines.
Fragging and ADs happen ALL the time..
:-)
No.
Our military doesn’t do to well agasinst guerilla or assymetric warfare even with its technology advantage.
If they come for them, it will be for a reason - and I guarantee you won't like it.
It’s the ‘Neo-Cons’ that aren’t talking that you have to worry about.

I follow the words that Charlton Heston said before his famous “From my cold dead hands speech”
See video from beginning to 1:32
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ju4Gla2odw
“Every time our country stands in the path of danger, an instinct seems to summon her finest first those who truly understand her.
“When freedom shivers in the cold shadow of true peril, it's always the patriots who first hear the call.
“When loss of liberty is looming, as it is now, the siren sounds first in the hearts of freedom's vanguard. The smoke in the air of our Concord bridges and Pearl Harbors is always smelled first by the farmers, who come from their simple homes to find the fire, and fight, because they know that sacred stuff resides in that wooden stock and blued steel — something that gives the most common man the most uncommon of freedoms.
“When ordinary hands can possess such an extraordinary instrument, that symbolizes the full measure of human dignity and liberty. That's why those five words issue an irresistible call to us all, and we muster. So — so, as, ah, we set out this year to defeat the divisive forces that would take freedom away, I want to say those fighting words for everyone within the sound of my voice to hear and to heed — and especially for you, (Insert Tyrannical official): From my cold dead hands!”
This makes the assumption said people are just going to be passively waiting around in their own homes. And that there will be guns to be turned over.
Those military and police ARE us. Despite the desires of the regime, the young Lance Corporal or Airman or Seaman or Soldier are from our neighborhoods. It will take much PSYOP for them to pull the trigger on their kin.
Won’t take too much to convince the senior officers though...
Drones, anyone?
Hmmm.
“Red Dawn” bump.
Remake coming in November.
They'd be just like those gun-wielding hoodies who piled up trying to get out of the jewelry store when an armed granny came after them.
No, but there is the worry of foreign troops being brought in to “help” that would fire on US civilians.
Heaven forbid.
“Shoot twice and go home.”
I'd say today it depends on the Marine.
The traditional soldier is being driven out. The efforts to put more women in command positions and the allowance of open homosexuality are there not just to placate certain groups. These policies are meant to discourage the entry into the military of conservatives.
Well, somebody's certainly doing some tough talking around here and last time I looked around it wasn't me. I am not a "neo-con", Mr. Karger, I do not own an AR-15, and I will not obey. Them...or you. Watch me.
None of my guns being registered I’ll get a lot of them before they get me!!!
At 75 I’ll go down before they get any of my guns and I won’t care because I wouldn’t want to live after the fight if we lost!!!
“You really think US Marines will fire on US Citizens defending their Constitutional Rights?”
*
I have had countless posts about this. Marines, GI’s etc won’t have to heart to fire at another human being. Even if they had their sights on the most anti US military libtard in America, yelling and spitting at them. My cousin serves at Red Cloud in Sokor and they had that conversation. It just comes down to Dem officers who have no respect to the Constitution like say recent West Point grads (whistling)
You are correct. Blue helmets will be happy to shoot and loot Amerikan kulaks.
No, we did not try dis-arming the VC. We killed them.
And the facts are, that worked out rather well.
IMO, it is apples/oranges to make that comparison for the U.S.A.
What has to be asked is, "Are you willing to kill someone who you might know if they are part of the FedGov machine trampling the constitutional rights and subjugating the country?"
That, sadly, is a question that may have to be answered.
Equally sad is the fact that many many people are willing to do just that to you if you are part of what the FedGov decides to remove from existence.
Guns? What guns? I don’t have any guns.
I think not. We here are older than most of you so we have somewhat less to loose than you..We are less afraid, you see.
Makes me want to go take a Karger.
U.S Marines, no, N.A.T.O. probably.
Must be more in the death panel clause in Obamacare that no one has read yet. By the way, has anyone read the whole thing yet? They keep finding more absurbities in it every day.
Not no, but hell no.
What guns?
A box of ammo a month spent at the range should be sufficient to insure most of those who come to collect my guns ... will leave in a body bag.
Exactly. Who in this day and age can’t get guns that are untraceable?
A.) We are legion. Our government couldn't possibly hope to match our numbers. what, are they going to drive their tanks and armored APCs down main street, America and start shooting at people who might have firearms? I don't think so and if they did, that would certainly be the end of the US government and, more importantly, it is a certainty that the public debt would no longer be serviced in the event of such a civil war which opens up a whole new Pandora's box of problems.
B.)we are probably one of the, if not the strongest political forces in this country. The AARP has nothing on us. We basically control entire state legislatures in many states throughout this country as well as local law enforcement agencies and we're constantly gaining more power. As evidence, look at the direction that firearm legislation has moved over the past 10-15 years. Our influence clearly isn't waning. Quite clearly the opposite in fact.
C)We're not stupid. We know how to win and how to lose. We wouldn't fight their fight, they would fight ours and they would fight it in our backyards...and theirs.
come and take them if you have the balls to try.
On top of that, troops and cops have families, too, and they will be facing the same hard times the rest of us do. What did the gunowners ever do to them?
What to do? Obey a clearly illegal order, or go home (taking your weaponry with you) to organize a neighborhood defense? And Uncle Bob, the Vietnam vet that taught you to shoot? He may be slower and chubbier now, and wear coke-bottle glasses, but he's still a bigger badass than you can hope to be.
The UN or some multinational foreign force? The "rifle behind every blade of grass" of Yamamoto's warning would look more like the welcome wagon.
For those who will be sitting on the fence, remember that they will have to go out every day and night, even on "peaceful" patrols. They have to be lucky every time, because they'll be going out again and again for a long time. "The other guy" needs to get lucky only once.
Thank you for posting that speech.
"...the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is looking for 46,000 rounds of ammunition for the National Weather Service."
Only 46,000 rounds? Hell I bet there’s more than a few Freepers with that many and that just in their BOB’s. ;-)
I keep guns for them to take, and I won’t resist.
Here’s the deal. The US isn’t some little country, like say Cuba. There is one federal government, and fifty state governments. There is a lot of territory for Marines, and even the Army to cover, even in their armored vehicles, with all their technology. There are a lot of streets for them to roll down, and a lot of houses for them to search. There are a lot of guns they won’t get. We don’t have enough military to occupy the entire United States perpetually. That’s where things change. One knife can get one M-16, and an M-16 can get more, and on until others have armored equipment. But the people won’t be alone. Remember state national guards, and state police, and county police, and militarized forces that won’t all go along with a military overthrow of the United States? Remember the fall of the Soviet Union? One other thing to keep in mind. Neocons aren’t the only American citizens who won’t be happy about giving up their firearms. There are a lot of people from all political vents who don’t care to have their firearms pried out of their hands. It takes one hell of a military to disarm 100 million citizens with multiple arms, and then occupy that territory to make certain they have all the firearms. Once citizens decide they aren’t going to cooperate, that game is up.
The author is a corporate lawyer who ran away to the high desert of Mexico.
And no doubt a whiney, panty-wetting liberal. Neo-cons are hardly likely to own any gun, much less an AR. Neo-cons are socialist Jews who figured out in the late 60’s and early 70’s that they weren’t going to keep the US fighting Israel’s battles through the Democratic party, so they became “conservatives.” They have very little overlap with the domestic social issues of the GOP on gun control, abortion, etc.
I prefer to think of the brave souls in the Warsaw Ghetto who had but a few guns and held off the Nazi mechanized army for weeks. Imagine what a better armed and fed population would do.
No, the gun grabbing left would love to instill fear, but as long as people have their guns, the government will have great fear of the public. As it should be.
We have found out to our dismay that in pissant countries like Iraq, even the major powers get tired of being picked off by an angry population.
No, they’ll come for our guns, and we won’t be here. The battles will be at a time and place of our choosing, not theirs and it won’t be the way they imagine and it won’t be against whom they think they’ll be assaulting.
I’d prefer if they didn’t come at all and they would realize the error of their ways prior to something that cannot be taken back. First blood has already been drawn. Brian Terry is proof of that. Let that be the end of it. If the Government persists down this road they have chosen, we all lose.
The Government has no business dictating restrictions and other infringements of 2nd Amendment Rights on people. They are crossing the Rubicon by doing so. I fear that they will set foot upon the shore of no turning back. Once that happens, our nation is lost and war will rule the day. It will be a sad day for the Republic when that happens.
