Try this thought experiment. Imagine that someone grows up in poverty, works his way through law school by holding the night shift as a Capitol Hill policeman, and spends all but two years of his career as a public servant. Now imagine that this person’s current salary — and he’s at the top of his game — is $193,400. You probably wouldn’t expect him to have millions in stocks, bonds, and real estate.

But, surprise, he does, if he’s our Senate majority leader, whose net worth is between 3 and 10 million dollars, according to OpenSecrets.org. When Harry Reid entered the Nevada legislature in 1982, his net worth was listed as between $1 million and $1.5 million “or more,” according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. So, since inquiring minds inquire, let’s try to figure out how Reid’s career in public service ended up being so lucrative

Harry Reid prospered as being the US Senator who made sure the guys and cabals who run the lucrative Las Vegas gambling and recreation (whores, drugs, money laundering, etc.) action got the deals and tax preferences they wanted in D.C.

AND YET - 7% annual rate of return when invested over that time frame (rather than savings) is still a piece of cake. Heck, if he had merely put it in a DRIP with MO over that time span he’d have MANY times that return.

I think people who cast aspersions about corruption ought to have a heck of a lot better evidence than 1 - 1.5M increasing to 3-10M over 30 years! That sort of slander is the domain of the Left, and I’m surprised to see someone try to use it here. That’s my point, and I’m sticking by it.

Frank Rosenthall was represented both by mob mayor Oscar Goodman and more interestingly by Harry Reid’s admitted best friend, Jay Brown. Rosenthal though Brown was a POS too. Brown has had a good career in part by representing titty bars.
