Facing his best chance at legal status in the United States, Alan Valdivia struggled to answer some basic questions about himself. When did his family bring him here from Mexico? At what age? By what route?
Valdivia, a 19-year-old UC Riverside student, was one of hundreds to appear Wednesday at the offices of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles seeking help in applying for work permits.
Tens of thousands more like him lined up nationwide on the first day of a new federal program that would allow people who were brought here illegally as children to defer deportation and obtain work permits provided they meet certain criteria, such as no serious criminal record.

This will fundamentally change our nation, yet it is the biggest non-event I ever saw. Where are the demonstrations? Where is Congress? Where are state governments? Why is conservative media silent? What happened to the American people?
Even Free Republic seems to not care. I see no calls for actions, no organization of rallies, no grassroots movement to stop or reverse this. I guess we will all just vote for Romney, as if that would change anything. Birther threads get hundreds of comments, but this TREASON is met with a collective shrug.
Why doesn't Obama just legalize ALL illegals? hell legalize all South America! Its not like anyone would try to stop him.

I am slowly coming to the realization that conservatives are the real RINO’s in the GOP. We need a new party, with clearly defined principles.
.... FYI ..... This is nothing more than a retroactive Anchor Baby program that will eventually lead to millions of newly minted Anchor Children (up to 31 years of age) that will eventually be able to sponsor their parents and family to be here legally.

I like Tom Hoefling, aka freeper Eternal Vigilance, who is running for president under America’s Party.
If enough TEA Party associated congressmen are elected and Obama wins reelection, Obama will be impeached, removed from office and then arrested (unless he stages a coup).
If enough TEA Party associated congressmen are elected and Mitt Romney wins he will be forced to accept that HE has no mandate other than to implement the conservative agenda that dragged his sorry RINO butt to victory and then all this commie crap can be reversed.

I think it is because they know that President Reagan is the only other President to give Amnesty. They are probably afraid to be called hypocrites. The whole thing is to get Obama another million votes.
The nation has already been fundamentally changed but yes, this opens a new front in muddying the waters. With this door open, who can dare close it politically? It'll add pressure to "finally" pass the DREAM Act. This was by design.
With unemployment at 8.3%, CNN said a few months ago 86 million are Americans invisibly unemployed, so how DARE an American president short circuit the legal process and offer 1.8 million illegal aliens work visas.
What strategy could there be to force Obama on this? The press will make it a race issue which plays into Obama's hand. The courts? Who would have standing? No individual would have hope to and no state because it's a federal issue.
This is the danger of being governed by lawyers and "constitutional law professors."
