St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office
Five people have been charged with attempted first-degree murder after shootings yesterday in Louisiana killed two officers and injured two others.
And an additional suspect was charged with being an accessory after the fact, The Associated Press reported Friday.
Terry Smith, Derrick Smith, Kyle David Joekel, Teniecha Bright, Brian Lyn Smith, and Chanel Skains are all facing charges stemming from the two early-morning shootouts in St. John the Baptist Parish.
In the first incident, a gunman shot an officer who was working traffic duty at a Valero plant parking lot in the area. In the second, officers were "ambushed" while investigating the first shooting, Sheriff Mike Tregre said.
Officers Brandon Nielson and Jeremy Triche died in yesterday's second shooting.
Two of the suspects were injured when they were arrested.
Law enforcement would not go into detail about the suspects' criminal backgrounds or their injuries. Police also would not disclose any other details about the shooting, the AP reported.

that’s it! thanks
Meth heads, yes. No doubt.
I would caution any and all....meth is on a spiral heading upwards...there is no trend seen in the US for it to peak out. I would personally make a guess that one out of ten people by 2020...will be a meth-user. Between meth and bath salts....it’s a pretty lousy future unless something happens.
The article has been moved from the link you were using to the one I posted. Front page to some other location on their site, I guess. Take care.
The officers were killed in an ambush at a trailer park. I guess this is politcally incorrect, but as a cop, I’d be careful about going into a trailer park.
Now, all the trailer park people can tell me how Christian they all are. I’m thinking there are more bad guys per capita in trailer parks than in the general population. Maybe more drugs per capita there. This doesn’t mean all people in trailer parks are lawless people, I’m saying there likely are more bad guys per capita there.
I really don’t care if anyone disagrees with me.
Yeah those didn’t sound like typical Amish names.
“He said he could not confirm if one of the suspects was part of a federally-watched anarchist group”
That could mean anything these days. If your Granny yells at someone in the Social Security office DHS will list her as a terrorist. I mean federally-watched means all of us basically. Just charge them with murder, give them a fair trial and hang them.
You understand it.
