Wish in one hand and spit in the other and see which one fills up first.

Akins quits tomorrow or we lose that Senate pickup. In fact, if he doesn't quit, we may lose any chance to reclaim the Senate.

In the age of the Democrat Media, we can't have an anchor around our necks, and Akins just volunteered for the job.

I’ve never been to prison, but I did know two men who were raped and died of AIDS. I think one was infected by the rape. I also know a man who was raped as a boy by a Catholic priest. He was sexually careless partially because of this trauma and was also HIV positive. Don’t know how long he lived.

>> He’s in TROUBLE because

He’s in trouble because reactionary prejudice of the terminology will frame “legitimate rape” as a degree of rape more vicious than that which is erroneously inferred in contrast as “acceptable rape”. Everything else is irrelevant.

Now I ask his antagonists, what is illegitimate rape?

Really stupid if true, no such thing as “legitimate rape”.

But did he make the mistake saying the words “legitimate rape” ? If he did, he shot himself in the foot.

He likely meant forcible, violent rape as opposed to statuatory or date rapes that aren’t violent....a bit of a gaffe to be sure, but we needn’t throw him under the bus.

Why the screaming?

If Todd Akin said what he said, the RESPONISIBLE thing to do would be for him to drop out and let that lady Steelman run instead.

They may have no choice, what Mr. Atkin said ended any chances of him winning. Look for Sarah Steelman put on the ballot.

The responsible person would look at his 5 or 6 terms in Congress and not whine about a 38 second sound bite.

He MUST step down and he MUST step down NOW.

His utter stupidity is OUTRAGEOUS.

The worst outcome form this is that it will hand Missouri over to Obama. If that happens, he will surely be re-elected.

No, Akin the utter Neandrathal MUST GO NOW.

Absolutely no other alternative.

HE MUST GO NOW.

Why is the Romney/Ryan team putting a distance from Atkin? That says something. Would not surprise me if Sarah Steelman gets on the ballot.

The responsible person would replace Atkin with Steelman. Problem solved.

Headline is intentionally misleading ... he is correct in that a violent event unleashes hormones and such that make pregnancy even more unlikely than the long odds it always is with a single event... The headline with the word "don't" is obviously incorrect and intended to inflame... (I did not watch video ... on a slow connection)

I have never read any studies about humans, but I have read some studies with rats that indicate that there is a grain of truth to what he says. But even if it were a proven fact (and it may be) that a woman is less likely to get pregnant from rape, less likely is not the same as impossible.

Regardless, his remark was both stupid and insensitive. We need more intelligent candidates on our side.

It is heartening to me that so many posters here are unwilling to tolerate his views. It’s nice to see that we have integrity and not the “win at any cost” attitude of the left.

Please, please, please, let us stop putting up candidates like this. (Being pro-life is fine; being insensitive and stupid is not.)

He needs to step down. Any chance of that happening?

In the Missouri Primary held on August 7, Sarah Steelman was NOT supported by trial lawyers and unions. This foolishness came from a Brunner political advertisement against Steelman. The trial lawyers did support her husband (a fellow trial lawyer) in 1992 when he ran against (and nearly beat) Jay Nixon. In 1998 some unions did support Steelman, but only because they wanted to teach a lesson to a Democrat poll they felt had betrayed them.

Steelman has always been in favor of Right to Work legislation. Hardly a popular position among unions. Anyone can Google 'firedupmissouri.com' to see what unions think of Sarah Steelman. In a nutshell, they HATE her!

But Todd Akin is now our candidate. Strong on RKBA. Highly rated by ACU and NTU. Did he screw up? Yes. But we all need to focus on getting Ma McCaskill the hell out of Washington!!!

You are a kook for falling for the agenda the media sets. Can’t take a little media heat?

By that standard he should have known better.

To me, it is a symptom of some in the party wanting to push the social agenda instead of the fiscal agenda. If the fiscal agenda is the tent pole, and the only message, the GOP ticket will win overall. The country is willing to support the fiscal debate, they are not interested in the social argument this cycle.

Now, if the GOP Is able to gain control, affect a turn-around, then they would be in a much stronger position to roll-out the social reform debate. But the CFL dust up is leading some candidates to mis-read the electorates appetite to listen to the social debate. IMHO, now is not the time.

Like it or not, presenting a GOOD IMAGE is very important. Sad to say, Tony Atkins shot himself on the foot. This is an election that Dems must not win, so he has to be replaced by Sarah Steelman.
