Too good to check: Could Obama lose … Illinois?
Hot Air ^ | August 20, 2012 | Ed Morrissey

Posted on 08/20/2012 11:25:54 AM PDT by RobinMasters

Look, I’m a pretty sunny optimist, but this stretches even my credulity. A pollster in Illinois believes that Mitt Romney can win Barack Obama’s home state, thanks to a mediocre performance in Cook County by the incumbent, and outright hostility outstate:

A poll conducted by Illinois-based pollster and political strategist Michael McKeon found Obama leading Republican Mitt Romney by 49 percent to 37 percent in Cook County, the home of Chicago. That puts him ahead by a far thinner margin than expected in a county he should be winning handsomely.

Cook is the most Democratic leaning county in the state. It is also the most populous. …

According to the poll, which surveyed 629 registered voters last week, Obama’s problems are not in Chicago proper, but in suburban Cook County.

In the city of Chicago itself, he retains a 60-29 lead over Romney. But the Republican challenger leads 45-38 in the surrounding areas. Across the county as a whole, Romney leads 43-31 among independent voters, a crucial voting bloc. Romney also holds a 44-38 lead among male voters, and a 53-40 lead among white voters.

Bill Brady almost beat Pat Quinn for governor in 2010. Maybe, but I won’t hold my breath, still too many dead people in the crook county cemetaries

If nothing else maybe even the threat of it happening will keep extra busloads of voters from coming into WI that day to vote.

Not looking good. He’s going to need a lot of dead voters and Their pets if he hopes to win.

I think they should poll New Jersey, Connecticut, Michigan, and Minnesota.

I have a feeling they will find it much worse for Obama than Illinois.

Half of Illinois's voters (living *and* dead) are welfare parasites and many of the rest are government paycheck parasites.Add to that the trust funded (Bill Ayers, for example) and there's not a hope in hell that Osama would lose it.

I suppose that it’s possible, but I really don’t see an upset in Illinois. I would say that Pennsylvania has more potential for an upset, and even that’s a long-shot.

IMO it's very possible that Romney could carry all of the states that W carried in 2000.If that happens then he's in.He might even pick up one or two others. But any talk of a popular vote...or *Electoral* vote...landslide by Romney is delusional. The Rat Party has done too good a job over the last 30 years in terms of open borders, tax legislation, etc, for a Republican...”conservative”,”moderate” *or* “liberal”...to win a Nixon-like or Reagan-like landslide.

This should be in Breaking News!!!

Shock Poll: Romney beats Obama in Chicago Suburbs

I'd love to believe that BO will lose Illinois.

However, I'm not holding my breath.

The good news hidden in this article is that if Illinois is not a blowout for BO - note, not "close", or a "a loss", just "not a total blowout" - then that's a good sign for Romney.

BO should carry Illinois by 20+ points. If he can't do that, he'll be getting his head handed back to him in a bag, nationwide.

It all depends on whether the Cook County jail can get all the inmate absentee ballots mailed out soon enough.

That, coupled with whether the Democrat Union Cemetary Workers can copy down all the headstone names correctly.
