The somebody should be Jon Brunner, the second place primary finisher. If they pass over him, that’s a slap in the face to him and his supporters and he would probably be within his rights to mount a legal challenge. Don’t need that. The party needs to be united.
Missouri voted a Democrat legitimate corpse (Carnahan) into the governorship. Surely the Republicans can find a live Republican for the Senate to replace the current walking dead candidate should he choose to withdraw.
On another read, someone posted that the withdrawal has to take place by tomorrow (11 weeks prior to Election Day) but that the GOP would have a few weeks to name his replacement.

The runner-up,would be reasonable. I read that all of the others suggests (former senators) are over 70.
